Mr. Saunders' Message 11/18/18

Baucom Parents and Guardians,

This is Principal Brian Saunders with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message

We’ve got a short week this week as we prepare for one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving.  Please know how thankful we are for each of you and the ongoing support you provide that helps make Baucom Elementary the school to be at in Apex.  We have a regular day of school tomorrow.  On Tuesday, dismissal is at 1:15pm.  There is NO SCHOOL Wednesday through Friday this week.

Reminder parents that outside food, like cupcakes and such, should not be brought in for birthdays.  You are more than welcome, as usual, to come in and eat lunch with your child and bring their lunch with you.  We still prefer, if you want to do something for all the children in the class, that it be something educational like baggies with pencils or highlighters or such.  As for learning experiences right before a holiday break that some classrooms engage in, the teacher will let you know what items or services are needed for those, so please stick to their released request list.

Thank you to everyone who came out for Parent Math Night last Thursday.  If you could not make it and would like the packet sent home by your child’s grade-level, please let your child’s teacher know and it will be sent.  We are working on getting the presentations from Thursday night up on our website, again, if you were unable to make this one.  We have Literacy Night after Thanksgiving on November 29th so please mark your calendar.  K-2 again from 5:30 to 6:15pm and 3-5 from 6:30 to 7:15pm.

Occasionally we receive opportunities to share with students and families from the area universities.  Duke football has invited WCPSS students to attend the 12:30pm football game at Duke on Saturday, November 24th for free.  They will also receive a voucher for a hotdog or popcorn and a drink.  Their chaperone or chaperones get in for $15.  The $15 ticket will also include the concession voucher.  For tickets, go to

That’s all for this week. Thank you and have a happy Thanksgiving Aviators!
