Mr. Saunders' Message 10/28/18
Baucom Parents and Guardians,
This is Principal Brian Saunders calling from Baucom with this week’s Sunday Kickoff Message.
We had another very successful Book Fair last week! I want to thank our PTA volunteers, Ms. Edwards in our Media Center, and anyone who played a role in the Fall Book Fair. In Tuesday folders this week, please be on the lookout for an at-home resource you can use before, during, or after your child’s nightly reading. It will be on the back of a letter from me. Remember, we need our Aviators reading for at least 20 minutes a night and we would prefer to see our 3rd to 5th graders reading for at least 30 minutes each night.
Kindergarten parents – the Letterland Parade will begin promptly, Tuesday morning, in the main hallway at 9:30am. It is a very brief parade, but it involves each letter of the alphabet as our Kindergarten kids have now worked their way through Letterland, A through Z.
Believe it or not, the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year ends this Wednesday! Report Cards will go out in a couple of weeks on Friday, November 9th. Wednesday is a full day of school as a makeup for inclement weather earlier in the school year.
Looking ahead as we roll into November, we will be on a two-hour delay to school on Election Day, November 6th. The next day, win or lose, we have Fall Picture Makeup Day. We have our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration scheduled for 9:30am on November 9th. For veterans planning to attend our event, the photograph that we keep for the Wall of Honor and the participation form are due this Wednesday, October 31st. And lastly, we have a very important Math Night just for parents scheduled for 5:30 – 7:30pm on November 15th. K-2 will be the first hour and 3-5 the second hour that night so please mark your calendar now.
Thank you and keep flying high Aviators!
