VMCCA Update for October 8, 2021 (English & Spanish)
PSAT: On October 13, all 9th grade students will take the PSAT 8/9 and all 11th grade students will take the PSAT/NMSQT. There is no charge for this assessment. Click here for a letter to juniors and their families. Click here for a letter to freshmen and their families. Students received paper copies of these letters today. While students are taking the PSAT, 10th grade students will fill out their Wake Tech application and will spend time with the seniors and Wake Tech instructors in their program area.
Senior Pictures: On October 14th, any senior who did not have their senior portrait taken over the summer with Prestige will be able to have their photo taken here at the school. Appointment times will be sent out a few days before picture day. Pictures will take place in the gym. The dress requirements for the yearbook image include having the ladies photographed in a black drape and the gentlemen photographed in a tuxedo. Prestige will provide these outfits at the time of your session. Ladies should bring a tank top or tube top to go under the drape and men should bring a white t-shirt to go under the tux.
PTSA Meeting: The VMCCA PTSA is hosting a meeting on Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00 PM. It will be virtual. Please register your plans to attend at this link and we will forward you the link to join the meeting by the morning of October 19. Agenda items include the following:
- Open Positions
- Fundraising
- Volunteerism
- Ride Sharing (assessing if there is an ongoing need)
CFNC Hosts Countdown to College during the month of October: Click here for more details about activities throughout the month.
- CFNC FREE College Application Week will take place from October 18-22. During that week your student can apply to these colleges for free (application fee waived). See your counselor for more details.
- FAFSA Day is back this year! On October 23, campuses across the state will be hosting parking lot drive-in sessions for students and their families who need help with the FAFSA. Here is a link for your students to register. Encourage students to check back as every day campuses are signing on to host FAFSA Day events. You will find more information on CFNC.org/pay by early October.

- ¡El Día de la FAFSA está de regreso este año! El 23 de octubre, los campus de todo el estado organizarán sesiones en el estacionamiento para los estudiantes y sus familias que necesiten ayuda con la FAFSA.
