Our After School Tuesday program begins tomorrow February 4.  Power Hour is an after school enrichment program that will focus on enrichment, acceleration, and intervention in the areas of ELA, Math, and Science.  Power Hour will occur every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30.  Please make sure to complete the commitment form so that your student can participate in this four month program.  More detailed information can be found on our website or you may contact Terrance Hinnant, Assistant Principal.

When you have a moment, please congratulate all faculty, staff, and students as we have earned the 2020 National Magnet School of Excellence Merit Award.  To receive a national merit award, schools must submit a detailed application that then undergoes a rigorous review by a panel of educators. Schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. We are truly proud of this honor.

We also have changed the Parent Engagement Night from January 30 to February 20 so please save that evening to share with us.  For now, we ask that you please contact your student's teachers to set up a conference for January 29.  We are halfway through the academic year and this would be an awesome opportunity to voice how we can better assist in your student's academic experience and performance.  We look forward to our continued partnership.

Parents, a few reminders. The school day starts at 8:15 and doors are open to students at 7:45am. Students arriving earlier than 7:45am need to remain in the front of the building and are not supervised by adults. Students arriving after 8:15 are considered tardy and must be checked in by a parent. Carpool is located in the back parking lot not the circle lot in front of the building.  Agendas & schedules will be distributed to students in homebase.

The school day ends at 3:00pm and the staggered dismissal process begins. Walkers and students riding carpool will be dismissed first. Bus riding students will be dismissed once their bus arrives on campus. We are asking for your patience during the first week of school as we work closely with transportation to get kids to and from school safely.  In addition ALL check-outs must occur prior to 2:30 for the entire year.
