Zebulon Gifted & Talented Middle Parents,

Tuesday November 20 is an Early Release Day.  Students will be released at 12:30.  We will also host a truck fair for all students during the instructional day.  Please ensure that pick-up arrangements have been made for those students who ride carpool.  School is closed November 21-November 23.

With many Duke Students leaving campus and heading home for Thanksgiving, Duke Football is looking to fill their student section with local students and their families for the November 24th game vs. Wake Forest. The game is set for 12:30 p.m. at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium. This is a great opportunity for our community to visit campus and watch a great football game.  They are offering all area students a FREE ticket to the game as well as free concessions vouchers good for their choice of a Hot Dog or Popcorn and a drink. Their families and friends can also purchase significantly discounted tickets for only $15 that also includes the free concessions vouchers. Parking is also free for all fans general public lots.  All the students and their families have to do is visit www.GoDuke.com/BeAStudent to register.

Please review the various spirit apparel stores and make your order before close of business 11-19-18.

Please help us to remind students of the 40 Book Challenge.  Students will receive PROWL tickets for every 4 books read AND recorded on reading logs.   We will add more incentives to this.  All students should staple their reading logs in their agendas (on an old page) and bring them to the media center to be verified.

Monday November 26 8th grade students will have an assembly visit by Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

Thursday November 29 we will host our 4th Digital Hispanic Parent Academy at 6pm.

Friday November 30 8th grade students who have turned in forms and paid will be going on their field trip.

The end of the 1st quarter was October 30.  Report cards were distributed November 9.  Please make sure that you sign the brown envelope and have the student return it to their 1st period teacher.  If you would like a conference, please contact your student’s teachers directly and or counselor.  We look forward to our continued partnership.  Quarter 1 celebrations for attendance, grades, and progress will be held in the students' 1st period classes as they celebrate one another for their accomplishments.

Would you like to share with students about your professional career as we help students navigate all the school to career possibilities?  Our Career Development Coordinator Mrs. Creech is looking for professionals to come and have lunch with 3-4 students and share about their chosen career field.  Please complete the google contact link on our website entitled "ZGTMMS School to Career - Lunch and Learn".  Two lunch and learns per month will be organized by invitation only for 8th grade students who have an interest in the career field of the professional career guest.

Parents, a few reminders. The school day starts at 8:15 and doors are open to students at 7:45am.  Students arriving earlier than 7:45am need to remain in the front of the building and are not supervised by adults. Students arriving after 8:15 are considered tardy and must be checked in by a parent.  Carpool is located in the back parking lot.

The school day ends at 3:00pm and the staggered dismissal process begins.  Walkers and students riding carpool will be dismissed first.  Bus riding students will be dismissed once their bus arrives on campus.

Our daily schedule has been adjusted so that students have 6 classes; three electives each quarter and 3 core classes each semester.  ELA and Math are year-long and Science and Social Studies will alternate semesters.  This provides extended time in core classes and less courses to focus on at one time.  There may be some adjustments in individual student schedules to ensure that your student has the best student experience.
