COUGAR PARENTS,

We are reaching out to families to get their input on how we can develop a stronger partnership to support student achievement! Be on the lookout for an email from Panorama Education that includes a survey link.   If you didn’t receive the email, please reach out to us so that your voice is represented.  This survey is important to our work around family engagement. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey, please don’t hesitate to contact us!  Students will bring home a flyer with survey information on Thursday April 12th.  We will also publish the link on our website after the 12th.  The survey is anonymous and can be completed on any mobile device.  Mrs. Ndiku our awesome Magnet Coordinator is the direct contact to assist.  We look forward to hearing from you.

We will celebrate National Volunteer Service Week  April 16 - 20 by holding a food drive for the NC Food Bank.  Students will bring home a flyer on Thursday April 12th with information about most needed items.  We will have a friendly competition between homerooms to see which classes bring in the most items.  The winning homeroom will receive a prize and schoolwide recognition for their service.

Registration for grades 6 and 7 are going great!!!!  Thus far, students have had in class presentations by counselors to explain course options and course selections prior to completing the registration forms.  If they have not been turned in already, please make sure to sign the form and have the student return the form to their 1st period teacher.  Students will begin online registration this week.

WCPSS bus rider families are now able to use a free bus tracking system called Here Comes the Bus.   Here Comes the Bus translates GPS data into an easy to use customizable map that works on a computer, tablet or smartphone. It allows you to see where the bus is and how close it is to your stop.  You can sign up for Here Comes the Bus at https://herecomesthebus.com/getting-started/.  You will need the district code and your student’s ID number to sign up. The WCPSS school code is 67500. For your smartphone or tablet, download the Here Comes the Bus app from the App Store or Google Play.

WCPSS created an invaluable new resource for your child to ensure that he or she is successful in Math 1! The NC Math 1 Student Support Site is designed for you to help your child stay on track while offering you resources to help him or her with homework.   We encourage you to take advantage of the NC Math 1 Student Support Site via your student’s login to our Canvas website. Once you have logged in to Canvas, click on the tile that says "NC Math 1 Student Support Site" to access the support resources.   Detailed information was sent home with all Math I students.

This is just a reminder regarding carpool.  Please drop off students prior to 8:15 am in carpool located at the back of the school.  After 8:15am students are considered tardy and should be checked in at the main office with a parent.  All check-outs should conclude before 2:30pm.   Please do not drop off students in front of the cafeteria or by the trailers for safety reasons.

Have a great week COUGARS!

Yours,
