Happy Friday Wakelon Families!

This is Principal Nealy with our Wakelon Weekly Updates!

Character Celebration: We will have our May Character Trait Celebration on Friday, May 30th.  This celebration will take place in the Media Center at 9:30.  Your child’s teacher will send home an invite/reminder.

Volunteers Needed: It's an exciting time at Wakelon! Our WAKE Up and Read Annual Book Distribution is next week (Monday-Wednesday, May 19th-21st). All K-3 students will have the opportunity to select up to 5 books, at no cost, to help build their home library and read over the summer! This is a great opportunity to come into school and support students as they shop. Sign up here to help. Thank you!

Wakelon ES PTA Board Member Nominations: Nominations are open for PTA officers for the 2025-2026 school year!  If you are interested in supporting the Wakelon PTA in a leadership capacity, please complete the form below:

Please contact any of the current executive board members or Conswalia Chambers-Banks with questions

Library Books: This week, all students are required to return any library books they have checked out during the school year.  If students in grades 3-5 need a book to read during EOG testing, they may check out one book.  Once all returns and final checkouts are completed, any student with unreturned books will receive a missing book notice.

EOGs : End-of-Grade (EOGs) tests are quickly approaching.  Students will be assessed in the areas of Reading, Math, and Science (only 5th grade). It is our desire that your student does his/her best work.  You can assist in this by making sure your student is present and on time each day of testing.  If your child misses a day of testing, he/she will be making it up on June 9th-13th.  Also, please make sure that students are getting the proper amount of rest and a healthy breakfast in the morning.  Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided free of charge to all students every day.  Lastly, please make sure students do not bring non-essential items (toys, teddy bears, blankets, etc.) or wear improper attire (pajamas, slippers, etc.).  Below is the schedule of assessment dates:

  • May 27th-30th (Kick-off EOGs Spirit Week)

  • Monday, June 2nd - 5th Grade Reading

  • Tuesday, June 3rd - 3rd and 4th Grade Reading

  • Wednesday, June 4th - 5th Grade Math

  • Thursday, June 5th - 3rd and 4th Grade Math

  • Friday, June 6th - 3rd Grade Read to Achieve (select students) and 5th Grade Science.

Counselor Referral Form - Parent Referral: If your child or your family is experiencing a life-changing event or challenge- It might be helpful for your child to speak with a school counselor. If you have a concern that you would like the counselor to discuss with your child, please fill out the Parent Referral Form. When filling out the form, please include as much relevant detail about your concerns and the situation as possible. This helps our school counselors have a better understanding of the circumstances and will help inform their strategies and guidance in order to help your child.
