Happy Sunday Wakelon Families!

This is Principal Nealy  with our Wakelon Weekly Updates!  I hope that you all are having an amazing weekend!

Teacher Workday will take place on Tuesday, November 7.  There will be no school for students on this date.  This is also voting day!

Report Cards: Quarter 1 report cards will be sent home on Thursday, November 9.  Please be sure to check your child’s folder and/or bookbag so that you are aware of their current academic progress.  Please also be on the lookout for Fall Conference to discuss the current status of your child.

Veteran’s Day: Our Wakelon Family would like to thank all of our Veterans for their service.  We are grateful for you!  Veteran’s Day is observed as a National School Holiday.  There will be no school for staff and students on Friday, November 10.  Please be sure to thank our Veterans.

3rd Grade CogAT Testing: This is just a reminder that all 3rd graders will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) on November 6, 8, and 9. Students will begin testing at 9:30 and end by 10:30. Please make sure your child is on time to school those three days. The CogAT is used for educational planning purposes for WCPSS students. Individual student data can be used to identify students for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Stephens at kstephens3@wcpss.net or visit this website to learn more about the CogAT.

YMCA Afterschool Program: The YMCA has shared that full operation will begin in January 2024.  All parents who have registered so far have been made aware of this update.  There is still time for parents to register their students for the YMCA Afterschool program.    This program is only available for students who attend Wakelon Elementary.  If interested, please complete the registration form by clicking on the link below.
