Week of May 8, 2023
Happy Sunday, Wakelon Families! This is your Principal, Mrs. Nealy, with your weekly update. I hope that you all are off to a great start with your Sunday! Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our teachers and students last week.
National School Nurse Day: Let’s be sure to celebrate our school nurse, Nurse Kelly Heckman on Monday, May 8.
Early Release will take place for all students on Tuesday. Students will be released two hours early. Teaching and learning will take place. It is important that your child is in school on an Early Release day.
After-School Clubs will come to an end on Thursday, May 11.
Interim Reports will be sent home with your child on Friday, May 12. Please speak with your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Instructional Time: Parents please exhaust all efforts to get your child to school on time. We also ask that you try to refrain from picking your child up before the 3:45 bell. When they get here late and leave early, they are missing class instruction. Lost instructional time adds up and causes your child to not excel in school. They must be present to learn. Also, please remember, we will not let students be checked out after 3:15. If you have doctor's appointments, please make time to get here before 3:15. Thank you!
Lunch Support: We are in need of your support in the cafeteria. If you have time in your day to come and lend a hand during our lunch hours, we ask that you please consider supporting us. We are asking all parents/guardians who have been approved through the WCPSS volunteer system to come and support us anytime from 11:00-1:30. Support will consist of helping monitor our students so that our teachers can have a duty-free lunch. Please click this link to sign up.
WAKE Up and Read: It's an exciting time at Wakelon! It is the WAKE Up and Read Annual Book Distribution from May 16 - 17. All students will have the opportunity to select several books, at no cost, to help build their home library and read over the summer! This is a great opportunity to come into school and support students as they select books. Sign up here to help. bit.ly/WUARWakelon23 (All volunteers must be approved through the WCPSS Volunteer system. Please see our receptionist, Mrs. Carter if you would like to sign up).
