Week of February 20, 2023
Happy Sunday, Wakelon Families! This is your Principal, Mrs. Nealy, with your weekly update. I hope that you are having a great weekend! Please do not forget that there will be no school for students and staff on Monday, February 20. Presidents Day is observed as a National Holiday.
Mid-Year Student Recognition will take place on Tuesday, February 21 during the school day. You should have received an invitation if your child is receiving recognition. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions. We are looking forward to celebrating our student Bulldogs. If you did not receive an invitation to the mid-year recognition, do not worry. Your student has a lot of time to goal set and have an even better second semester. We will celebrate again at the end of the school year!
PTA Spirit Wear sales will begin on Tuesday. We have chosen a nice design for our new shirt. The sale will begin on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, and will end on Friday, March 3, 2023. Due to the nature of the sale and the turnaround time, our PTA will not be able to accept any additional order forms/money after Friday, March 3rd. Order forms will come in your child’s take-home folders.
After-School Clubs will begin on Thursday. If your student is participating, they must be picked up on time. If students are not picked up on time they risk the chance to continue in the club. We are over capacity with our clubs. We have some students on the waitlist. Please know that your child will be removed if the club contract is not followed. You will receive more information about your child’s club from the individual Club Leaders. We are looking forward to this exciting opportunity for all 3-5 student Bulldogs!
The Spelling Bee will take place after school on Thursday, February 23 at 5:30 in the Media Center. Please come out and support your child if they are participating in the Spelling Bee.
African American Wax Museum will take place Friday. We encourage all 3-5 families to come and watch your student share their knowledge about what they have learned about a famous African American who has made a positive impact in our country. Times for each grade-level museum are below:
5th grade: 9:20-10:05
4th grade: 11:30-12:15
3rd grade: 2:45-3:30
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) It is almost time for the SSA Testing Window!
