Weekly Message: November 14, 2022
Happy Sunday, Wakelon Families! This is your Principal, Mrs. Nealy, with your weekly update. I hope that you are having a great, long weekend, enjoying your time together, and thanking all of our Veterans for their service to our country.
Student Report Cards for quarter 1 will be sent home tomorrow. Parents will get to see the results of teaching and learning during the first 9 weeks of school. We are proud of the progress that our students are making. A few structures that we have put into place to support student learning are parent/teacher conferences and individual instructional support to help all students who have challenges with some of their learning objectives. Please make sure you have signed up for a conference to discuss your child’s school needs.
Student Daily Attendance Families, we have a lot of students absent from school on a daily basis. Coming to school every day, ready to learn, is important for your child's success. It's also required by state law for children between the ages of 7 and 16. Excused absences include illness or injury, a death in the family, health care appointments, court appearances, religious observance, natural disasters, and outside educational opportunities. You'll need to provide a note within two days of your child's return to school or the absences will be recorded as unexcused. For more information, review School Board Policy 4400: Attendance. When students are not in school, they are missing a lot of learning opportunities.
Student Transportation Families, if you make a decision to pick up your child in carpool instead of bus transportation, please communicate that change to the homeroom teacher via Talking Points. This ensures that we have students at the right dismissal location in the afternoon, and keeps our carpool running quickly. This also includes having someone else pick up your child. We will only allow your child to leave with individuals who are on the approved list in Power Schools. Please contact our front office if there is going to be a different person picking up your child.
