Weekly Message: September 5, 2022

Happy Sunday Wakelon Families!

This is your Principal, Dena Nealy, with your weekly Sunday update.

Thank you to everyone for a smooth first week!  It was wonderful to see all of our students get back into the routine of learning!  We are looking forward to a great school year with them.  Here are a couple of reminders for the week ahead.

On Monday, there will be no school for the Labor Day holiday.  Take time to enjoy your family and friends.

On Tuesday, September 6th we will have our first official day of school for all of our kindergarten students. We enjoyed getting to connect with them last week.

On September 12 at 6 pm, we will host our first PTA meeting of the year.  Please come to join our PTA so you can see how to get more involved in our school-wide events. Mark your calendars!

Next week, our students will begin BOY testing and mClass testing.  Please help us by making sure that your child is in attendance for school each day.   We have daily breakfast available, free for all students.

Please remember to visit our website to fill out Free and Reduced Lunch forms, or to apply money to your child's lunch account. We have some families that currently have negative balances for their student's lunch accounts.  Those individuals will receive a separate email making them aware of how much they owe.

Finally, thank you for your patience with the arrival and dismissal procedures.  Just a reminder that our tardy bell rings at 9:15 am.  If you drop your child off after that time, please walk them inside.  Our carpool has been completed by 4:30 pm. While the first week was a fuzzy start, we were happy to see a better experience each day.  Please keep in mind that due to the lack of bus drivers, we are experiencing a busier carpool than ever before.  Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we navigate these first couple of weeks of school.

Thank you, Wakelon Bulldogs for a wonderful week!  Have a fantastic Labor Day, and we will see you on Tuesday!

Kind Regards,

Principal Nealy
