Weekly Message: June 5, 2022
Week of June 6, 2022
Happy Sunday Wakelon Families!
Believe it or not, we are in the last week of the 2021-2022 school year. We are excited to celebrate the growth and success that our students have made this year and sad to see the year come to a close. What a transitional year this has been. Our staff, students, and families, all deserve a huge high five for the work, dedication, and commitment to teaching and learning that took place this year.
I started with Wakelon last week, and I must say that those 3 days were full of amazement and inspiration. I am honored to lead this spectacular school community and to begin the process of building meaningful relationships with our students, teachers, and families. I am impressed by the commitment and engagement that students and staff put forth throughout the campus.
Make-up EOG testing will take place on Monday, June 6. Students who will need to make up their tests have been notified.
During this last week of school, we will have our Kindergarten - Fifth grade Award Ceremonies.
On June 8 we will celebrate our Kindergarten through second-grade students. Kindergarten Awards day will take place at 9:30, First-grade awards will take place at 11:00 and Second-grade awards will take place at 1:00.
On June 9 we will celebrate our third and fourth-grade students. Third-grade awards will be held at 9:30 am, and fourth-grade awards will take place at 11:00.
As a reminder, only 1 family member will be allowed to attend the kindergarten, first grade, second, third, and fourth-grade awards ceremonies.
Our 5th-grade students will participate in a Promotion ceremony on June 10 at 9:30. During this time we will celebrate their gifts, talents, accomplishments, and success in completing their elementary school careers. We are excited about seeing each of you off to middle school this fall!
As a reminder, two family members will be able to attend the Fifth grade and fifth grade only promotion ceremony.
Families of students who are receiving award recognition have been provided with an invitation.
Parents and guardians who plan to attend the ceremonies this week, please know that if you bring your child flowers or balloons, you must take those items back home with you. Students will not be allowed to take those items back to their classrooms. This is an expectation due to allergies and distractions that can or may be caused. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
If you plan to check your student out early this week, please know that full credit will not be given if a student is checked before 12:30.
This week, I will continue to meet with staff and visit our students.
This week, parents are invited to come and meet Mrs. Nealy. Parent Meet and Greets will take place as follows:
Current Kindergarten- second grade can attend Tuesday, June 6 from 5:30-6:30.
Current third-grade and fourth-grade families can attend Wednesday, June 7 from 5:30-6:30.
This is a chance for families to meet Mrs. Nealy, learn a little about her, as well as share their current experiences as community members of Wakelon.
Our staff would like to thank each member of our community who has supported our school community in any way this school year. We could not continue to grow and achieve if it were not for the support of our entire Wakelon village.
In closing, we appreciate the privilege of serving your families throughout the year at Wakelon Elementary School. We look forward to seeing our returning Bulldogs this fall and wish our 5th graders all the best as they move on to Middle School. Although you are leaving our campus as full-time scholars, you are not leaving our hearts. We invite you back to visit us when you have an opportunity in the future.
