This is Ms. Cooper with your weekly message!

Open House:  Thank you to the families who joined us for Open House!  Parents the Math Presentation has been uplaoded to our website under the Parents tab.  Please feel free to contact our Math Coach, Ms. Bowling, if you have questions or concerns.

October 31: Parents, students are allowed to dress up as their favorite character from a book, story or Letterland.  Students are not allowed to wear face paint, face masks or hats.  Candy is not allowed at school on Thursday.

Carpool: Parents carpool drop off beings at 8:45. If you are picking your child up thru carpool, please make sure you have a Wakleon issued carpool tag.  You will have to park and come inside to retrieve a tag if you do not have one when you arrive on campus.

Fall Conferences:  Your child’s teacher should be contacting you soon to schedule your Fall conference.  Please try to make every effort to attend.  It is important that we address any academic concerns early in the school-year so we can work together to address them.  We also want you want to be informed of child’s current progress.

AIG Testing: Would you like to nominate your child for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted program?  Nominations are accepted all year. Fall Testing for grades 4-5 will start October 15. Contact Wakelon's AIG teacher, Kytrina Frederick, at kfrederick@wcpss.net  or your child’s classroom teacher for more information.

Workday: No school on Friday, November 1.

Free and Reduced Lunch Status:  Parents if your child is currently receiving Free or Reduced Lunch based on last year’s status and you have not submitted a form for this year, the temporary status ended today.  Please come in to retrieve or submit your form if you have not done so already.  Your child will need lunch money $2.55 until the application is approved.

Readvolution:  Parents we kicked off our Readvolution program last week.  We hope you will support your child with this initiative.  We are asking all students to reach the goal of 20 minutes a day and 800 minutes by the close of the competition on November 22.  Last year, Wakelon ES was in the top 5 in the Eastern Area for minutes read.  We took a group of 40 students to a Hurricane’s game and had a BLAST!!

Snacks:  Our students receive a fresh fruit and vegetable snack four days a week this month.  The snack menu for this week is as follows: Blueberriesn and grapes.  Please encourage your child to participate in this healthy snack choice.
