Bullying Prevention: This week we are bringing awareness to Bullying Prevention. Please see the days below:
Tuesday: Let's work together to end bullying! Twin Day
Thursday: Put a cap on bullying! Hat Day
Friday: Team up against bullying! Wear your favority college or sports shirt
Lunch Accounts: Letters were sent home on Friday with an update on your child’s lunch account.
Open House: Please join us on Thursday, October 17 for our Open House event. The Book Fair will also be open during this time. PTA Meeting begins at 6:00. The focus of the evening will be helping your student to be successful in Math. Refreshments will be served.
Carpool: Parents carpool drop off beings at 8:45. If you are picking your child up thru carpool, please make sure you have a Wakleon issued carpool tag. You will have to park and come inside to retrieve a tag if you do not have one when you arrive on campus.
Field Day: We will have our annual Field Day on Friday, October 11. K-2 (9:30-12:00) 3rd-5th (12:30-3:00).
AIG Testing: Would you like to nominate your child for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted program? Nominations are accepted all year. Fall Testing for grades 4-5 will start October 15. Contact Wakelon's AIG teacher, Kytrina Frederick, at email@example.com or your child’s classroom teacher for more information.
AIG: All 3rd Grade parents are invited to attend an informational session about the 3rd Grade Explorers' Program and Cognitive Ability Testing on Thursday, October 17 at 8:00 am or at 4:30 pm.
Workday: No school on Wednesday, October 9
Free and Reduced Lunch Status: Parents if your child is currently receiving Free or Reduced Lunch based on last year’s status and you have not submitted a form for this year, the temporary status ended today. Please come in to retrieve or submit your form if you have not done so already. Your child will need lunch money $2.55 until the application is approved.
Readvolution: Parents we kicked off our Readvolution program last week. We hope you will support your child with this initiative. We are asking all students to reach the goal of 20 minutes a day and 800 minutes by the close of the competition on November 22. Last year, Wakelon ES was in the top 5 in the Eastern Area for minutes read. We took a group of 40 students to a Hurricane’s game and had a BLAST!!
Snacks: Our students receive a fresh fruit and vegetable snack four days a week this month. The snack menu for this week is as follows: Apples, Pineapples, Broccoli w/ranch. Please encourage your child to participate in this healthy snack choice.
