Hello Wakelon Families!  This is Ms. Cooper with the weekly message.

First Day:  We are so excited to welcome our “little friends” to Wakelon tomorrow morning!  Thank you to all of our families who came out for Kindergarten Orientation and Meet teacher on Saturday.  It was great seeing ALL of you!!!

Carpool: Parents carpool drop off begins at 8:45.  If you are picking your child up thru carpool, please make sure you have a Wakelon issued carpool tag.  You will have to park and come inside to retrieve one in order to have your child released to you in the afternoon.

Buses: Wake County transportation is requiring that all students receive a bus tag.  Tags will be given out during homeroom tomorrow.  Please report lost tags to child’s teacher immediately.  He/she will not be allowed to ride the bus, even if they are a regular rider, without a tag.  We also need to know if your child will be riding a vendor bus to a daycare or boys and girls club in the afternoon.  We will give them a tag for that also.  Making sure every child makes it to their expected destination each day is a top priority for us.  Please help us by communicating in a timely manner.

Staggered Entry:  Parents, if possible, please bring your student to school on their staggered entry date.  This helps to ensure that your little one has a stress-free start of the day.  We don’t want our students to be anymore anxious than they already are.  We also have papers that we need you to complete the morning of staggered entry.  Please sign in upon arrival and go to our media center.  If you are unsure of your staggered entry date, please give us a call.

Early Check-Out Change: In an effort to minimize classroom interruptions, students can not be checked out after 3:15. This allows us time to prepare for dismissal.  Please plan accordingly.

Required forms/handbook: Parents your child’s teacher will be sending home forms for you to read and some of the forms will state “please return.”  Please make sure read, sign and return all necessary forms as soon as possible.  We especially need the transportation form.  This document provides us with directions regarding how your child will get to school and back home each day.  Parents, please review the Student/Parent Handbook that is being sent home tomorrow.  It has the dates for all major school events and it outlines our policies and practices that many parents have questions about throughout the year.

Breakfast/Lunch/Snack:  All students at Wakelon will receive free breakfast each day.  If you have questions regarding our menus or completing forms for free/reduced lunch please visit our website. Under the Parents tab is School Meals.  You will find all the necessary information related to Child and Nutrition.  We will also resume our fresh fruit and vegetable snacks in September!

Important Dates:
