Meet the Principal

Keith Richardson

June 20, 2016

Crossroads FLEX is, by virtue of its name, a school that will offer flexibility in scheduling for students who need it due to outside activities that demand much of their time.

Keith Richardson is a principal who fully believes in meeting students’ needs where they are.

“This school is for students who have ambitions that go beyond the school walls, who already have piqued their interests in other activities that cannot necessarily be offered in the traditional high school setting,” said Richardson.

“We want to work around their schedules so they can still strive for their dreams, strive for their goals, be successful in high school because there’s going to be a support system to help those students.”

Richardson has served as principal at York Elementary School for the past five years. He was an assistant principal and was a high school English teacher for a number of years, as well.

Richardson is excited about his new role, and sees his philosophy is that all students can succeed as long as they have the appropriate supports, regardless of their background.

To ensure this, Richardson will lead a team of teachers and counselors who will work together to meet academic needs, while also paying attention to the types of scheduling necessary to accommodate varied schedules.

“We’re going to cater to each individual student’s needs,” he said. “There always are going to be opportunities for small group instruction and assistance.”

Applications for the 2016-17 school year are being accepted through Friday, June 24.
