DRMS Principal's Message
Hello, this is Kristen Faircloth, principal at Durant Road Middle School, with your weekly message.
Spring has sprung! A huge shout out to our 6th grade First in Fitness Team for competing on Friday, March 15th and for achieving many personal bests as well as some place winners. The team represented Durant in a positive manner and had a lot of fun. Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade band for receiving Superior Ratings from all judges at their performance on Monday, March 18, 2019. We had a very successful Student Led Conference event for tracks 3 & 4 on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 and can't wait for tracks 1 & 2 to engage in their conferences on April 10, 2019. Thank you to all who came out to Moe's Spirit Night on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. It was a packed house supporting DRMS! Finally, congratulations to our cheerleaders for being recognized and cheering on the Hurricane Players as they took the ice at the hockey game on Thursday, March 21, 2019. There are so many great things taking place at DRMS each week!
WCPSS is conducting the Panorama Family Survey again this school year. One of the pillars within Vision 2020 is "Community Engagement," which centers around Parent Engagement. In support of this, WCPSS will continue its successful Family Survey effort and aim to gather actionable data from all parents and guardians in the district. Using this data, WCPSS school and district leaders will be able to both assess where they stand relative to their goals in Vision 2020 and better understand how they can align their resources to improve identified areas for growth. The survey asks families about a variety of topics relevant to their experiences with their schools and district (barriers to engagement, family support, family efficacy, family engagement, school climate). All surveys will be administered from Monday, March 25 - Friday, May 3. Parents/guardians with an email address on file with the district will be emailed a survey from Panorama. Parents and guardians will be asked to complete one survey per school that they have a child attending.
