Board approves March 5 as a non-instructional day for students

During the January 16 meeting and in response to community and staff feedback, Board of Education members approved making March 5, 2024 (Primary Election Day) a 'Banked Day' for all 2023-24 instructional calendars. This means there will be no school for students and the day will be designated as a workday for school staff. 


Depending on the election type, more than 80 (40%) of the district’s 198 schools serve as polling sites. Because 2024 is a national election year, a large number of voters are expected to be in attendance at polling sites on Primary Election Day. 


To allow this change, the district will use an available banked day. Two additional banked days are available if there is a need for weather make-up days during the current school year. View the updated student calendars on
