WFHS Principal Update - Week of October 9th

Good evening WFHS Students and Families,

Tomorrow is a teacher workday for staff and students will not attend school.

Carpool traffic – We are continuing to have concerns with traffic pattern for carpool. Please refer to the link below which explains our traffic pattern. The traffic pattern is designed to help keep reduce congestion and ensure safety. We appreciate your help with our carpool traffic pattern.

Testing Information

October 19th the PSAT will be administered to registered studentsOctober 26th – the PreACT will be administered to all 10th grade students. Please see the attached letter for more information.

From Student Services

This month is Bully Prevention Month. Student Services and the PTSA are working together to create a "messages to your young self" display on the windows by the media. Students can check out the display once completed. They will have the opportunity to fill out a letter to include in the display burning their 2nd period classes.

This month is also College Application Month. Student Services is hosting a college bootcamp the first 3 Tuesdays of the Month. This Tuesday is about creating a account and filling out RDS. Next Tuesdays will be to assist in completing college applications. Next week 10/16-20 is free application week when applying through Attached is the list of schools participating as well as a application month checklist. We are Also doing college BINGO. Students can pick up a BINO sheet in student services once completed they can turn in and get their name in a drawing for a prize at the end of the month.

NC Governor’s School - The Governor’s School of North Carolina is the oldest summer residential school program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students in the nation. Juniors may attend in the areas of English, Mathematics, Natural Science, Social Science, Spanish, Theater, Visual Arts, Choral Music, Instrumental Music or Dance.  Sophomores may attend in the areas of Choral Music, Instrumental Music or Dance.  This is a competitive statewide 4-week summer residential program for students. The NC Governor’s School application is now open. Students interested in this opportunity should begin by watching the Governor’s School Information Video and should review the Family Overview Information Sheet (English) or (in Espanol). Completed applications including the required recommendations and video (if applicable) are due no later than Friday, October 27, 2023 and must be submitted using the submission link provided.
