WFHS Weekly Update - Week of September 18th

Good evening WFHS Students and Families,

Below you will find information for seniors, homecoming, and PTSA.

Senior Portraits – if you did not have senior portraits made, please see the attached flyer. The makeup dates are September 27 and 28.

Homecoming Dance - SGA and Beta Club are hosting the annual Homecoming Dance on October 7th from 7:00-10:00pm in our Gym. Tickets are being sold before and after school from 9/11- 9/29 (Cash Only). Students may invite a guest from outside WFHS but may only purchase a ticket for them after submitting a completed Guest Approval Form.  Only guests who are currently enrolled in high school may accompany a WFHS student to the Homecoming Dance.  Additionally, please note that all ticket sales are final, non-refundable and non-transferable.  Students or guests attempting to redeem a ticket assigned to a different student or guest will be turned away at the door without exception.

Senior parents - If you missed our parent night on Thursday 9/14, please review the linked information below. This includes the student services presentation, the FAFSA presentation, and the senior planning guide. Students were also given information at an assembly on Friday 9/15 and will receive an email from their counselor week of 9/18, with useful information as well as the classes needed for graduation. Make sure they check their WCPSS email accounts.

For students planning on applying to ECU, East Carolina is having a free application week September 25th-29th. This is a great time to apply to the school without paying the $75 application fee.

CFNC will continue hosting their annual College Application Month during the month of October. During this month we will have information regarding FAFSA, RDS, Applications and more. Free Application Week will be held October 16th-20th. The list of schools that will be participating will be announced by CFNC during the first week of October.

Chromebooks - The initial distribution of Chromebooks for ninth graders who returned a device in 8th grade is complete.  Students in any grade who need a Chromebook, may come to the Media Center to request one.  Per Tech Services, it is currently taking approximately 10 business days for devices to be delivered to the school.  When devices are delivered, we will call students to the Media Center to pick them up.

Kind regards,Melissa ThomasWFHS Principal
