3-29-21 Message from Principal Hamler

WAKE FOREST HIGH SCHOOL

Principal Message

March 29, 2021

Hello Cougar Families! This is Patti Hamler, Principal of Wake Forest High School.

Parents here are several questions I am receiving in emails:

· Will schedules change? All students will keep their same teachers and schedules (except for a couple of extreme circumstances). Most classes will have students virtually and in person.

· If I sign up for Plan A, can I still log in remotely if I do not come to school periodically? If you commit to Plan A, it is the expectation that you show up to school every day school is in session (not virtually). Please see the attendance policy for Plan A below.

Attendance Update for Plan A Return to School:

· If a student is in Plan A and does not physically attend, the student will be marked absent per Policy 4400. If a student is not physically attending for reasons that would not be considered excused under section C of Policy 4400, then the student will be marked absent as unexcused.

· If a student in Plan A requires quarantining due to a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 or exposure, the student will be marked absent-excused, similar to a student who is absent for any of the reasons in section C of Policy 4400. Any students who are absent for excused reasons per Policy 4400 will be provided remote learning access that is available at the school.

Eligible bus riders currently in Virtual Academy returning to in-person learning must apply for bus service. Students must also submit the bus attestation form. Bus assignments will not be provided until the attestation form is received. Parents should go to the transportation website to apply for service (wcpss.net/busrider) and to submit the attestation form (wcpss.net/busform).

This year, the yearbook will have a special section of the book featuring self-portrait photos submitted by parents and students. This is different from the school picture section of the book, so if you didn't get your picture taken this year, or if you would like to include an additional photo of yourself, please use the QR code below to submit it! For photos to be used in this feature section, they must follow some guidelines: see this form for details on what type of picture you need to submit. Note: We are only accepting photos through the Jostens photo submission site linked to this QR code; do not email photos directly to the yearbook adviser, please. The deadline to submit your photo is April 16 at 6PM.
