Our STEM Parent Engagement Night and the PTA General Meeting was this past Thursday evening.  A BIG Thank you to everyone who made it a success.  In whatever role you played - big or small - every bit is appreciated.

 

CASTING CALL: LOOKING FOR A BABY SIMBA

 

Looking for a stuffed animal that can play the part of Simba in the opening scene of THE LION KING

The winner gets sets to see the show, bragging rights and name in the program.

Please bring in your candidates in a bag with your name and phone number on it by March 13th 

Will return all candidates by March 14th except the winner!

Single Subject Acceleration Parent Notice

 

Single Subject Acceleration is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in either Language Arts or Mathematics. The testing application window is March 17-28 and will be posted online on Ms. Hanley's AIG website. It will go live March 17. The testing window is April 11-25th. If you are considering this option for your child, plan to attend Ms. Hanley's information session on Friday, March 7th at 8:00 AM. The google link is meet.google.com/dha-odjd-mwy. 

 

 

Conn PTA Updates

 

WCPSS Educational Technology Questionnaire (Family/Community) - 

WCPSS is looking for your input! We are gathering feedback from students, families, educators, and community members about how we can improve the way students use educational technology in our schools, including:

● Cell Phones/Personal Communication Devices: the devices our students bring with them to school, such as cell phones, smartphones, and smartwatches, and

● School-Issued Instructional Devices: the devices WCPSS issues to students at school, such as Chromebooks and iPads.

 

How the district will use your feedback:

We are seeking community feedback to update our district’s student cell phone policy and our WCPSS issued instructional device strategy. Our findings will be shared with our school board in late spring. Your responses will be kept anonymous.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us here.

 

 

The 2nd Annual Conn Cougar 5K Event, hosted by Conn's PTA, will take place this Saturday, March 8th, 2025 @ CONN! Race starts promptly at 9 am! -- 

 

A special thank you and congratulations to Lavender Riddick, Conn 4th grade student. Lavender's art was selected as inspiration for the 2nd Annual Conn Cougar 5K t-shirt design. Check out the draft design on the race event webpage.

  • TBD  - 1st Grade Field Trip to NC Zoo (Actively looking for a reschedule date)

  • March 14th - School Day (Converted due to inclement weather event)

  • March 26 - “The Lion King” Family Performance (5:00pm - 6:30 pm)

  • March 28th - Quarter 3 Ends (Qtr 3 Report Cards sent home on April 16th)

  • March 31st - April 4th - Spring Break (No School)
