Mr. Corey's Weekly Message - 2/21/25

 

CONNmunity!  Here is your weekly Principal Message.  

 

I hope everyone was safe during the inclement weather.  Families, as we review our master calendar and instructional plans for the remainder of the 24-25 school year, know that adjustments will be made based on the needs of students and also district expectations due to the loss of our teacher workdays in March, April, and May.  We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Monday.  

 

Single Subject Acceleration Parent Notice

 

Single Subject Acceleration is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in either Language Arts or Mathematics. The testing application window is March 17-28 and will be posted online on Ms. Hanley's AIG website. It will go live March 17. The testing window is April 11-25th. If you are considering this option for your child, plan to attend Ms. Hanley's information session on Friday, March 7th at 8:00 AM. The google link is meet.google.com/dha-odjd-mwy.

 

Conn PTA Updates

 

The 2nd Annual Conn Cougar 5K Event, hosted by Conn's PTA, will take place on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 @ CONN! Race starts promptly at 9 am! -- Registration is now open! Register now to secure your spot. T-shirt pre-order deadline is coming soon. Order on/before Sunday, February 23rd to have your shirt for race day!!

 

A special thank you and congratulations to Lavender Riddick, Conn 4th grade student. Lavender's art was selected as inspiration for the 2nd Annual Conn Cougar 5K t-shirt design. Check out the draft design on the race event webpage.

 

A few key pieces of information:

  • We need a few more volunteers to ensure smooth execution! Please visit https://www.connpta.org/events/conn-cougar-5k for more information on the event as well as to sign-up to volunteer!

  • Conn Cougar 5K race registrants receive a finisher medal! Check it out on the event webpage linked above!

  • T-shirt pre-order deadline is Sunday, February 23rd! T-shirts can be purchased through registration or PTA's givebacks store. --https://www.connpta.org/events/conn-cougar-5k

  • T-shirts purchased through race registration and/or givebacks after Sunday, February 23rd are not guaranteed for availability at packet pick-up. These will be distributed via student homerooms or alternative following the event.

  • PTA does not want cost to be a barrier to participating, use code RUN4CONN for no cost race registration (open for use by Conn families and staff)

  • March 6th - STEM Parent Engagement Night/PTA Gen Meeting (4:45-6:15)

  • March 8th - Conn Cougar 5 K (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • March 14th - School Day (Converted due to inclement weather event)
