Conn PTA Updates

Conn's Winter Dance 2025 is on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5-7pm in Conn's auditorium.  All Conn families are invited with kids Grade 5 and younger for this FREE event.  Come join us for a fun night with dancers, DJs, and a photo booth. Sandwiches, packaged snacks, and water will be provided.   Please sign up for a volunteer shift to ensure a smooth event. Volunteer here

Conn PTA is excited to bring back the Conn Cougar 5K!! In its second year, the 2025 Conn Cougar Race Event will include a timed 1-mile youth fun run/walk as well as a USATF-Certified Conn Cougar 5K course!! Stay tuned for more information on the event and ways to get involved. We will need loads of volunteers to ensure a safe and successful event! Save the date, Saturday, March 8th, 2025 @ CONN! GLOWFORGE & AIR FILTER - Fully funded by a donor and the PTA!  

Parents, we are thrilled to share some exciting news about a fantastic addition to our school’s STEM program—our very own Glowforge 3D Laser Printer! This innovative tool, purchased with the generous support of our school community, is more than just a machine; it’s a gateway to endless creativity, hands-on learning, and cutting-edge technology for our students.

So, what is a Glowforge? It’s a user-friendly 3D laser printer that can cut, engrave, and create on a wide range of materials like wood, leather, acrylic, and even cardboard. With just a digital design, students can bring their ideas to life, creating everything from custom puzzles and artwork to functional tools and prototypes.

The final components are set to arrive and once assembled and tested, we have plans to start using our latest tech device with our kids as they apply their understanding of skills and concepts through our IDEAS Design Cycle by creating representations of their learning.

 

Chorus @ Ligon MS

Is your rising 6th grader interested in chorus and attending Ligon MS? 

Please review the Ligon GT Chorus Placement Audition Information link. 

 

YES, there are two dates to keep in mind for families. 

1. If the student knows they are attending Ligon next year as a neighborhood/base student, the due date is February 21st. 

2. If the student does not know yet due to the Magnet Application process, the due date is on or before March 19th. 

 

 

5th Grade Parents Only: 

Parents, remember that you must apply for middle school. Here is a video of a parent session hosted by the Magnet Office that provides important information.   

 

Magnet students who request their pathway school (wcpss.net/pathways) should be selected for that school. The pathway middle school for Conn Magnet ES is Centennial Magnet Middle School.  Parents, please note that you may apply to any magnet middle school, however an application to a non-pathway school is not guaranteed to be selected.  If you have additional questions, feel free to email Ms. Tamani Powell at magnetcenter@wcpss.net
