Ms. Chidester's Weekly Message: 2/24/23
Dear Conn Magnet Elementary School Families,
Jump Rope for Heart: For nearly 45 years, the American Heart Association has been partnering with educators in elementary, middle, and high schools across the nation to help educate students about healthy living.
The Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge school programs provide unique age-appropriate curriculum and activities. Students and educators have the tools needed to support both mental and physical well-being in students, families, and staff, all while making a difference by raising funds to save lives. We are very excited to share that Conn Magnet Elementary has raised $2,025.91 for Jump Rope for Heart!
Entrepreneur Day: We are having a terrific year so far, and we are hoping for a fun and engaging opportunity to close out the 3rd quarter and begin spring break!
Our goal is to have an Entrepreneur Day at Conn Magnet on Thursday, March 30 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. What does that mean? We are reaching out to local entrepreneurs to showcase their journey as an entrepreneur by sharing their story. Where did the idea come from to create your business or to be an entrepreneur? What was the planning like? What happened and what did you learn as you executed your plan?
This focuses on our Entrepreneurial Design IDEAS Cycle of:
- Identify a problem that matters to you
- Develop a plan
- Execute the plan
- Assess the plan
- Share the plan
If this is something you are interested in and would like to hear more about, please click this link to connect with Mr. Gridley, Magnet Coordinator.
Single Subject Acceleration: Parents interested in learning about and/or pursuing Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) should plan to attend one of two virtual parent information sessions. The sessions will be offered on Wednesday, March 1 and Friday, March 10. Both sessions will take place from 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. Codes will be sent home via Talking Points from classroom teachers and can also be requested directly from Nancy Hanley at nhanley@wcpss.net. Prior to the meetings, information can be found on the Wake County Schools website. Parent request forms will be available during our request window from March 20 - 24.
