Dear Conn Magnet Elementary School Families,   

 

On Monday, we will welcome back ALL Plan B Cohorts 1-3 PreK - 3rd grade and Regional Program students as well as Cohort 1 4th and 5th graders! As you prepare for your student’s return, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the important information contained in our Conn Magnet Elementary Return to Campus Guide.  

 

Transportation: As Plan B families begin to prepare to transition back to campus, please review all of our arrival and dismissal procedures in our Conn Magnet Elementary Return to Campus Guide. Be sure to access carpool procedures, bus procedures and bus route information on our school website.   

  

Carpool Arrival: Please remember to wear your face mask so our school community stays safe during the health screenings. If you plan to arrive on campus before 8:30 a.m. to line up for carpool, please pull into the East Millbrook Middle School parking lot and wait until we are ready and stationed at the health screening checkpoint. This health screening checkpoint is located in front of the main office. We will begin screening procedures at 8:40 a.m. Please do not pull through until a health screening has been conducted with your student(s). 

 

Bus Attestation Form: Parents/Guardians are required to submit the Bus Attestation Form stating that you and your child will abide by all health and safety protocols for bus ridership. Students are not permitted to ride the bus until this form has been submitted. You will need to submit a form for all of your children who plan to ride the bus during the 2020-21 school year. Submit form online | Español

American Indian Heritage Month: November 1-30 is American Indian Heritage Month. Our district and our school is committed to facilitating and growing recognition of the American Indian heritage and cultures. Check out this video created by a WCPSS student that highlights the American Indian Tribes of North Carolina. 

 

School Picture Day: Picture day is coming for all Conn students! Lifetouch is offering three different dates for Plan B students to have their pictures taken and one day for Virtual Academy students to have their pictures taken. We encourage you to order your pictures online using mylifetouch.com to order your pictures prior to your student's assigned day. Please use the following Picture Day ID when purchasing: EVTVXSDX6. There will be no group pictures taken at this time.

• Wednesday, November 18- Virtual Academy Students. Pictures taken on campus from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Scholastic Online Book Fair: Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is going virtual this year! The Scholastic Time Machine is now live! Visit the virtual book fair starting today, November 13- 26. 

 

CONNstruction Update: Boxes were officially delivered to our temporary campus this week, and we held a staff meeting centered around our upcoming move! The building is absolutely beautiful and the construction teams are continuing with installing landscaping, blinds, and site furnishings. The countdown is on! 

 

 

Chat with Chidester: Conn Magnet Elementary is officially on the move! Please join me for our next virtual 'Chat with Chidester' event on Thursday, December 3. During this time, I will be collaborating with our PTA to discuss our transition and all other important information related to our new campus. Event information will be coming soon from our PTA. We can't wait to continue the rich legacy of Conn Magnet Elementary back at home!
