Dear Conn Magnet Elementary School Families,

It was so nice to see our Cohort 1 Plan B PreK - 3rd grade and Regional Program students this week! Next week, we will welcome Cohort 2 Plan B PreK - 3rd grade and Regional Program students back to campus! As you prepare for your student’s return, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the important information contained in our Conn Magnet Elementary Return to Campus Guide. If you are dropping off your student through carpool, please remember to wear your face mask so our school community stays safe during the health screenings.

Istation: Istation is a tool that WCPSS has provided to all K - 5 students this year. Research shows that by participating in just 40 minutes of activities per week students make positive gains in reading. Once students complete the monthly assessment, they will be able to access games and activities that align with their specific needs to help them grow as readers by clicking on the Reading with ISIP icon. Teachers can also access the data provided by Istation to support their instruction to ensure that students are getting what they need to improve their reading skills. Istation's adaptive curriculum provides resources all the way up to the college level, so even if your student is reading above grade level, the activities provided will be appropriate for your student.

Welcome Mr. John Williams: Effective November 2, Mr. John Williams will be assigned as a part-time interim assistant principal at Conn Magnet Elementary to focus primarily on the move from the present campus back home. As a long time educator with great experience in school construction and building transition, Mr. Williams will join the administration team to create a “featherless” transition to the new campus, with top priorities upon safety and function. Everyone working to promote excellent instruction at Conn now is in overdrive with a laser-like focus on the needs of students returning to in-person instruction. Mr. Williams will work with us to make the moving process as joyful and painless as possible. To learn more about Mr. Williams, please visit our websiteYou may reach him at jwilliams10@wcpss.net.

CONNstruction Updates: We are eagerly anticipating our big move! We are still projected to resume instruction in our new building in January 2021. At our next 'Chat with Chidester' event, we will discuss our transition and all other important information related to our new campus. More information will be coming from our PTA. We can't wait to continue the rich legacy of Conn Magnet Elementary back at home!

PTA Update:

This is the final week for the All for Conn Fundraiser, which the PTA holds each year to help generate funds for school programming and supplies. If you have not provided a donation yet, please consider contributing here. Right now, we are at just over $12,000 for our $20,000 annual goal. Every dollar counts and makes a difference for our students and our school.
