WCPSS will be using Letterland in grades K, 1, and 2 as a vehicial for phonics and spelling instruction.  Letterland is a multisensory, systematic approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling to students. The approach teaches students the basics of word formation and is based on scientific research, knowledge of how children learn best and the experience of thousands of teachers. It uses interactive, engaging stories, songs and dramatic play to teach students the structure of the English language. Here's a video overview of why the county has chosen Letterland.
