MARCH IS WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the incredible achievements of women throughout history and their lasting impact on our world. At Rogers Lane Elementary, we are committed to honoring the contributions of women in a variety of fields, from science and education to the arts and civil rights.
Throughout the month, students will engage in activities and discussions that highlight the accomplishments of inspiring women and the important role they have played in shaping history. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home!

ROGERS LANE STAR STORE – KEEP THE DONATIONS COMING!
Students at Rogers Lane are working hard everyday to demonstrate positive attitudes, positive choices, respect, and become leaders of their own learning while earning tickets towards purchasing fun items as a reward for their efforts. Rogers Lane Families and Friends can now sign-up to donate and bring in an item or items for our School-wide Student Star Store and keep the momentum going for our amazing students.
Each of the items below are to give you an idea of approved and appropriate snacks or rewards for the Star Store (Brand Names are not required). Please select which item(s) you will be sending in and hit submit. When your item(s) you have selected arrives, please label it "RLES Star Store" and bring it into the main office and drop it off with our Receptionist, Ms. Evans.
WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

SAVE THE DATE FOR UPCOMING FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Due to the inclement weather, we have adjusted the dates of our family engagement nights to allow staff ample time to prepare for an outstanding event!

- May 15, 2025 - Bridging Success and Home to School Connections: Empowering K-2 Learners Together
DO YOU WANT TO JOIN YOUR CHILD FOR A FIELD TRIP?
As we plan for upcoming field trips, we want to share some important guidelines regarding chaperones based on Wake County Public Schools (WCPSS) policy. The safety and supervision of all students is a priority/
Chaperone Expectations:
- To serve as a chaperone, you must be an approved WCPSS volunteer. This process includes completing the volunteer application and background check.
- Non-approved parents/guardians are discouraged from attending field trips. For safety and logistical reasons, unapproved parents who show up at field trip destinations will not be allowed to chaperone.
- When an unapproved parent joins a trip, it limits the opportunity for their child to fully engage with classmates and benefit from the group experience.
If you are interested in chaperoning, please complete the WCPSS volunteer application at your earliest convenience. This ensures that all field trips are safe, organized, and enriching for our students.
A REMINDER ABOUT BIRTHDAYS & CUPCAKES
Families are welcome to send in healthy snacks for their child and his/her classmates to eat during lunch time. This year we are not permitting sweets (cupcakes, cookies, etc) to be passed out during the school day.
Our goal is to encourage healthy eating habits among students. Encouraging nutritious snacks supports students' overall well-being and aligns with the school's commitment to fostering a healthy environment.
Not all students can consume sweets due to allergies, dietary restrictions, or personal and religious beliefs. By avoiding sweets, the school ensures that all students feel included, and no one is left out or made to feel different because of their dietary needs.
The primary purpose of school is education. Birthday celebrations with sweets can be distracting and take away from valuable instructional time. By keeping celebrations simple and focused on the student rather than on the food, the school maintains a learning-focused environment.
SUPPORT HOW YOUR CHILD ‘ROCKs IT’ AT ROGERS LANE
The Rogers Lane ROCK-IT Expectations guide student behavior to help all students at RLES achieve social, emotional, and academic success by outlining the key habits needed for success in school.
R- Respect
O - Ownership
C - Communicate
K - Kindness
