11.24.2024 Update
November 24, 2024
Dear Rogers Lane Families:
THANKSGIVING BREAK
Thanksgiving break for students will begin November 27th. We will have school Monday and Tuesday of this week. Students will be out Wednesday (11/26), Thursday (11/27), and Friday (11/28).
Students will return to school December 2, 2024.
THE PTA APPRECIATES YOU!
In the spirit of the season, we want to thank every parent, family, and teacher that has joined the PTA for the 2024-2025 school year. We are greater when we stand together and that's because of YOU! There is still time to join the PTA during our membership drive...and the class with the most PTA members by Dec. 10 will win a pizza party!
Memberships range from $10 for one person and $18 for a family. PTA meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
CODE RED LOCKDOWN DRILL DURING THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 2nd
As part of our safety procedures, our school will conduct a code red lockdown drill during the week of December 2nd. These annual drills, conducted with law enforcement and WCPSS Security, help ensure students and staff are prepared for emergencies.
Lockdown Types:
- Code Red: Immediate threat; students stay in secure areas, and doors are locked.
- Code Yellow: Potential community threat; students remain indoors, and activities continue as normal.
During an actual lockdown, communication will be sent via phone, text, and email after safety measures are in place. Please verify your contact information with our office.
If your child needs support following this drill, please contact our school counselor.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2024-2025 TEACHER OF THE and TEACHER ASSISTANT OF THE YEAR
We’re thrilled to announce our Teacher of the Year – Ms. Devone, 3rd Grade and Teacher Assistant of the Year, Ms. Copeny, Kindergarten! These two exceptional individuals have shown outstanding dedication, inspiring our students and supporting our classrooms with passion and commitment.
Please join us in celebrating their incredible contributions to our school community. We are so grateful for their hard work and the positive impact they bring each day.
SUPPORT OUR DREAMBOX CHALLENGE
Our DreamBox Math Challenge continues, and we need your help to encourage our students to participate and reach their goals!
During the school day students will:
✅ Complete 5 lessons per week on DreamBox
✅ Track their progress on the hallway posters at school
✅ For every 100 lessons completed by their class, they’ll earn one raffle ticket for a chance to win a classroom pizza party!
On December 20th, we’ll announce the 3 lucky classrooms that will win a pizza celebration! The more lessons each class completes, the greater their chances of winning.
Let’s work together to make math learning fun and engaging. Your encouragement at home can make a big difference in motivating our students to challenge themselves and achieve their best.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW 3-5 COUNSELOR
We are excited to welcome Ms. Alexia Ali as our new 3-5 grade counselor. Ms. Ali will start on December 2, 2024.

A REMINDER ABOUT BIRTHDAYS & CUPCAKES
Families are welcome to send in healthy snacks for their child and his/her classmates to eat during lunch time. This year we are not permitting sweets (cupcakes, cookies, etc) to be passed out during the school day.
Our goal is to encourage healthy eating habits among students. Encouraging nutritious snacks supports students' overall well-being and aligns with the school's commitment to fostering a healthy environment.
Not all students can consume sweets due to allergies, dietary restrictions, or personal and religious beliefs. By avoiding sweets, the school ensures that all students feel included, and no one is left out or made to feel different because of their dietary needs.
The primary purpose of school is education. Birthday celebrations with sweets can be distracting and take away from valuable instructional time. By keeping celebrations simple and focused on the student rather than on the food, the school maintains a learning-focused environment.
