Principal's Message 6.22.25
Updates for this week:
We did it!!!: The 2024-2025 school year has come to an end. Thank you for partnering with us this year, as it was truly unique. We cannot wait to push ahead into the 2025-2026 year in just a few weeks. The last day of school is this Thursday, June 26th. Have a safe and wonderful track out to all our track 4 Flyers. Everyone else, we will see you back in the nest on July 7th.
Beginning of the Year Events/Dates: We will host our Meet the Teacher event for the 25-26 school year on July 3rd for tracks 1 and 3. This will take place from 2pm-4pm that afternoon. Track 4 will have their Meet the Teacher event on July 25th from 1pm-3pm. The first day of school for tracks 1 & 3 will be July 7th. The first day of school for track 4 is July 28th.
Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony: As a reminder we will have our 5th grade, track 4 promotion ceremony this Thursday in the gym beginning at 9:30. We encourage families and friends to join us for this special milestone for our Flyers. We only ask that you refrain from bringing helium balloons into the building as they can engage our alarm/sprinkler system. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
PTA Reflections Committee 2025-2026: The Reflections Program is a National PTA initiative that encourages students to explore their creativity through the arts in categories like dance, film, literature, music, photography, and visual arts. The 2025–2026 theme is "I belong." It's a powerful opportunity for students to express themselves and be recognized for their artistic talents.
We’re excited to bring Reflections to our school this year and are putting together a Reflections Committee to help make it a success. We need parent volunteers to help with planning, promotion, and organizing entries. We already have an excellent parent volunteer to lead the program but would need 3-5 parent volunteers to form the reflections committee. If you’re passionate about the arts or simply want to support student expression, we’d love for you to join us!
EOGs: For the 2024-2025 school year, students in 5th grade will get their science test scores later than usual. This delay is because the state is using a new test. When this happens, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction needs extra time to decide how to score the test and what scores match each level (Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5). This happens whenever the science curriculum changes.
