Dear students and families,

 

We are excited to have your child join the WCPSS Pre-K program for the 2023-24 school year, and we look forward to serving both our students and their families! Please read the following information carefully and in its entirety.

 

Temporary location

 

There has been a delay in construction of our new facility on Memory Road. 

 

We will begin the school year at the Spring Forest Modular Campus, 3851 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh. There will be signage on campus directing you to the right location. Our staff has worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition to our temporary site and to prepare a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for our students.

 

We expect to move to our permanent location at the end of September. We will share more information about that at a later date.

 

Important enrollment information: Action required

 

All students must be enrolled in person before attending. 

 

Starting on Thursday, you may enroll at the Spring Forest Modular Campus in the main office on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

We will also offer evening enrollment hours from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Tuesday, Aug. 29.

 

You must bring the following documents: 

• your child’s assignment letter;

• a birth certificate; 

• proof of residency such as a recent utility bill (within 30 days, and not a final notice);

• parent/guardian ID; 

• emergency contact information,

• updated immunization records. 

Enrollment will not be complete without all these documents.

 

Staggered entry 

 

Once enrolled, your child will begin school on a staggered entry date of either Thursday, Aug. 31 or Friday, Sept. 1. 

Information regarding your child’s assigned staggered entry date and times for orientation will be sent to you by your child’s teacher.

The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, Sept. 5. 

 

Open House for Families, Aug. 30

 

Location: Spring Forest Modular Campus, 3851 Spring Forest Rd., Raleigh NC 27616

Our Parent Orientation/Meet the Teacher will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30. - Please join us for a fun afternoon of learning more about your school, visiting your classroom, meeting your teacher, and making new friends.

Transportation and after-school care

 

Transportation may be requested only if it has been designated as part of your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Otherwise, you are responsible for providing transportation to and from school. 

 

After-school care is not available.

 

Home visits

 

Before the beginning of the school year, teachers will conduct home visits to share relevant information regarding our program and answer any questions parents may have about their child’s first school experience. 

 

Home visits are a vital component of our program and provide a better transition between home and school. It is also a wonderful opportunity for you to share information about your child and your family so that the teacher can become better acquainted with both. 

 

Teachers will schedule and conduct home visits from August 25-August 30. These visits should last approximately 45 minutes. Home visits will be scheduled by your child’s teacher.
