⚓Welcome to the 22-23 School Year 07/06/22

Dear Track 1, 2, and 3 Families,

We are excited to start the new 22-23 school year!

Due to our Powerschools database being down this week, I am unable to email parents directly through our School Messenger email system. Hopefully, by the second week of July, Powerschools will be up and running so that I can email you directly. Until then, I will email you through your classroom teachers.

Please read the following information, which will inform you of the events and procedures that will help us kick-off the school year safely and successfully.

July 6th- 1st-5th Grade Meet the Teacher

Meet the Teacher is an excellent time specifically designed for you and your child to visit the classroom.

  • As a reminder, this is for rising 1st through 5th grade families.

  • We encourage you to drop off supplies during this time.

  • Rising kindergarten parents, you should have received information about staggered entry and your Meet the Teacher through an email from your kindergarten track teachers. Kindergarten Meet the Teacher is July 13th for tracks 1, 2, & 3.

  • You can find carpool, bus, walker and YMCA information in the gym. Our PTA will be set-up in the foyer, so don’t forget to stop by and get involved!

  • There will be a photo booth in the gym!

Each track will have two 20-minute sessions, allowing parents with multiple children to attend more than one session. Everyone must adhere to their designated times as track teachers will only be available during these times:

  • Track 1: 1:00-1:20 OR 1:25-1:45

  • Track 2: 2:00-2:20 OR 2:25-2:45

  • Track 3: 3:00-3:20 OR 3:25-3:45

July 7th- First Day of School for 1st through 5th Grades

General reminders:

  • All staff will all be wearing blue staff shirts on the first day of school to make it easy for students to spot an adult and ask for assistance if necessary. We will have plenty of staff outside to help carry heavy supplies into the building.

  • We are asking that in order to help us with traffic control, that you please utilize your regular means of transportation on the first day (carpool, bus, or approved walker).

    • We do not have enough parking spaces and personnel to manage a large volume of parents parking in our parking lots.

  • Parents will not be allowed to walk students into the school building.

  • Supplies can be brought to school during Meet the Teacher or on the first day of school.

  • 1st - 5th grade students should bring WCPSS issued Chromebooks to school the first day. Chromebooks will go back and forth with students each day (per WCPSS policy).

  • Students should always bring a water bottle and a healthy snack. If your child will NOT be eating school lunch, they will need to bring their lunch.

  • Students should wear comfortable clothes - we have daily recess for 30 minutes.

    • We have created a great system by staggering arrival and dismissal times, which helps us keep traffic off of Kelly Road.

      • You can stagger your arrival in the morning from 8:45-9:10 a.m. and in the afternoon from 3:45-4:05 p.m.

    • Ensure your carpool tag is visible.

      • If you do not have a carpool tag on the first day, simply put your child’s first and last name and teacher name on a piece of paper and place this in your windshield.

    • Practice your student’s carpool number with them to help them be successful during dismissal.

    • Make sure the passenger side of your car is accessible for your child to quickly get in and out of the vehicle.

    • Do not get out of your vehicle to help your child.  We have staff outside to assist with getting students in and out of the vehicle.

    • If you need additional time to buckle your child, please pull forward out of the flow of traffic to do so.

    • When in the carpool lane, please move up as far forward as possible in order for us to get the traffic off of Kelly Road.
