Week of April 7, 2025

We hope everyone had a restful weekend and are looking forward to another busy week! We are looking forward to celebrating your children's accomplishments with you this week at our quarterly awards ceremonies!

Special Announcements:
It is National Assistant Principal Week! We hope you will join us in recognizing our Amazing Assistant Principal, Mrs. Ashley Crouse. Mrs. Crouse is truly an essential part of our TEAM. We love and appreciate her flexibility, work ethic, and dedication to seeing our entire school community thrive! We are so fortunate to have her at Carver.
Mrs. Crouse grew up on the coast of North Carolina and attended East Carolina University where she earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education. After graduation, she returned home and spent her first two years as an educator teaching 5th grade in her hometown. Since relocating to the Raleigh area, Mrs. Crouse has had the opportunity to serve the students in Wake County for the last 14 years. Throughout her time in WCPSS, she has taught first, second, and third grades, and served as an intervention teacher and instructional facilitator. She  returned to East Carolina University in 2021 and earned her Masters of School Administration. She was thrilled to be named the assistant principal at Carver in September 2022. Mrs. Crouse values the relationships she has built with students, staff, families, and the community over the years. She feels fortunate to work in a place that fuels her passion and makes every day worthwhile.

Social Emotional Learning at Carver:
Second Step- Unit 4 Lesson 18
This week, students reviewed key skills they’ve learned throughout the year to help them grow socially and emotionally. These include managing strong emotions, showing empathy, solving problems, and making responsible decisions. Reflecting on their progress helps students recognize how these skills support their success at school and in life.

If you have questions or need support, please do not hesitate to contact a school administrator by calling the school (919) 365-2680 or sending an email to Ms. Wenitra Merritt, Principal wcmerritt@wcpss.net and/or Mrs. Ashley Crouse, Assistant Principal acrouse@wcpss.net.

 Wenitra Merritt, Proud CES Principal
