Family Message 9/29/24
Dear Families,
Happy Track Out! Students will have no school September 30 - October 14. Students will return to school on Tuesday, October 15. Our next Family Message will be sent out on October 13.
Centennial Campus Scavenger Hunt
We apologize that our Scavenger Hunt had to be postponed once again due to weather. Administration will collaborate with the PTA to schedule a new date.
Office Hours with Mr. Gore
As I have not yet had the opportunity to have my Meet and Greet with families, I will offer a virtual office hour opportunity on Monday, October 14 at 4:00pm. Please use THIS LINK to join the office hour if you would like to participate.
Fall Athletics
Students who do not receive ISS or OSS are eligible to attend Dillard Drive Middle School sporting events. Tickets are $6 for events and students must have permission from school administration to attend. Our intention was to provide permission passes to students on Friday, September 27, which would allow students to attend the football game on October 2 at 6:15 pm on the campus of Athens Drive High School. As we did not have school on Friday due to weather, we will have a list of eligible students with us at the game. Students must check in at the ticket booth with CCMMS administration. Please do not drop off students if they have received ISS or OSS during the month of September.
Talking Points
Most of our teachers use Talking Points as their primary form of communication. Please be sure you have downloaded the Talking Points app to allow you to send and receive communication with the teachers of your students. Please see this website for more information about accessing Talking Points.
Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School Engineering & IT Academy
Southeast Raleigh High School’s Engineering & IT Academy offers students two different course pathways to follow through high school to earn a NAFTrack Certification from the National Academy Foundation. Students take one course each year in the academy subject and are grouped with other academy students in a core class. This allows for a cross-curricular project each year. Students also participate in career exploration activities, job shadowing and a 120-hour internship before graduating from the academy. The program has a 100% graduation rate. Most students choose to attend college, but some take their skills directly into the workforce. For more information, please contact Margaret Esselborn at messelborn@wcpss.net. The program accepts 50 rising freshmen each year. Your student can apply to join the academy here.
Transition and Community Agency Fair
Dillard Drive Middle School will be hosting a Transition Fair on October 10th from 4:30-7:30. This is a great opportunity to learn about the numerous agencies in our community that are here to support your student - even after high school. This fair will have information for all families with agencies that service an array of disabilities and support needs. More information can be found on this link: Transition and Community Agency Fair on Oct. 10 for middle and high school students with special needs.
Early College and Magnet HS Presentation
Please view the presentation that was shared by Ms. Winters, our 8th grade counselor, during our HS informational session that took place on September 26. This provides information about important deadlines and options for our students as they transition to high school.
Sincerely,
Jesse Gore
