NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

REPORT CARDS WILL COME HOME WITH YOUR STUDENT ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 7^TH: Please know that First Quarter Report Cards for Track 1 and Track 3 will come home with your student in their Monday Folder on Monday, October 7^th. Track 4 First Quarter Report Cards will be sent home on Monday, October 28^th.

 

BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH: Please know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month. We have several activities/lessons planned during October to bring awareness to this issue and work towards preventing all bullying. One of the activities will be a Bullying Awareness Spirit Week, organized by our Student Support Services team, which will occur over two weeks so that Track 4 can participate as well. Our Bullying Awareness Spirit Week will include:

 

• Wednesday, October 16^th: Unity Day (wear Orange) 
• Thursday October 17^th: Hero Day (Help Everyone Respect Others- Wear Your Favorite Superhero t-shirt)
• Friday October 18^th: Put Bullying To Rest Day (wear Pajamas)
• Monday October 21^st: We Are All On The Same Team Day (wear your Favorite Jersey)
• Tuesday October 22^nd: It’s Okay To Be Different Day (wear Mismatched Clothes)
• Wednesday October 23^rd: Pledge to Stop Bullying Day (wear Red, White, and Blue)

 

PTA SPIRIT NIGHT AT CHIPOTLE: Please know that our PTA is hosting a Spirit Night on Tuesday, October 8^th, at Chipotle on Retail Drive, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thank you for your support of our school!

 

FALL FESTIVAL: Please remember that we will be holding our Fall Festival on Friday, October 18^th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to bring the whole family for a fantastic evening filled with exciting trunk or treat activities, where your kids can collect sweet treats from creatively decorated car trunks. There will also be fall themed games and seasonal crafts for the kids to enjoy. Don't forget to wear your costumes! Join us for a night of laughter, community, and all the festive spirit of fall.

 

NEED TO ADD ADDITIONAL CLASSES TO KINDERGARTEN AND SECOND GRADE: Please know that this past week we have past the 20^th day of Traditional Schools when we finalize our allotments (positions) from the State and Wake County. Because we have class sizes in both Kindergarten and Second Grade that are now over the State Mandated Class Size requirements, we will be hiring a new Kindergarten Teacher, Kindergarten Instructional Assistant, and Second Grade Teacher. This will allow us to be in compliance with the State Class Size mandates we are required to meet, and allow us to reduce our Class Sizes for both Grade Levels. These are positive movements to better support student learning and engagement. Based on our current situation, we will be creating a new Track 3 Kindergarten Class and a new Track 1 Second Grade Class. To make this happen, I am going to have to move some Kindergarten students from Track 1 and Track 4 to the new Class we are creating on Track 3, and a few students from our current Track 3 Kindergarten Class to the new Class we are creating on Track 3. In Second Grade, I will be moving some Second Grade students from Track 3 and Track 4 to the new Class we are creating on Track 1, and a few students from our current Track 1 Second Grade Class to the new Class we are creating. If you are a Kindergarten Family or a Second Grade Family who wants to change Tracks to either the new Track 3 Kindergarten Class or the new Track 1 Second Grade class, I would ask that you please email me (smares@wcpss.net) and let me know you are willing to change Tracks. I am hoping that we will have enough families who are interested in changing Tracks, and we will not have to inform families that their Track is changing to help fill our new Class. Please know that we are required to meet all State mandated Class Size requirements, and we will need to create these classes to comply with these mandates. It will be positive to be able to reduce our Class Sizes in both Grades to better support our students’ growth! Thank you for letting me know if you are interested in making a change to one of these new classes.

 

PTA UPDATES: Our amazing PTA is continuing to support our school in so many incredible ways. Please see the following Volunteer/Donation opportunities and some Save the Dates events:

• The PTA is organizing a Food Drive to benefit families in the area. We are collecting non-perishable items. If you want to help, please use the NFP Food Drive sign up genius . Items can be dropped off in the Main Office of the school. Your generous contributions are greatly appreciated. 
• Each month the PTA delivers breakfast drinks and treats to teachers and staff as a thank you for all they do each day. Please take a look at the Staff Drink Cart Sign Up and let the PTA know if you can help support the Staff Coffee Cart. We thank you for all you do to support our teachers and staff at NFP.

SCHOOL REPORT CARD: WCPSS has released School Report Cards for each school. I am sharing with you the North Forest Pines Elementary School Report Card. While we still have areas to continue to push our students to excel, the Grade for our school from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction was a B, we continue to outpace the State achievement average, and are close to the Wake County Public School System achievement averages. In addition, in what I believe is most important, our school Met Growth Standards last year! What that means is that we continue to move students forward to help our students reach their ultimate potential! Please know that I believe our school is much more than just numbers, though, and I have seen so much this week to make me proud of the work that our staff and students do each day, and the support the PTA provides to make North Forest Pines an awesome place for teaching and learning! Please know it is an honor for us to serve our students each day!

MES DE PREVENCIÓN DEL BULLYING: Tenga en cuenta que octubre es el Mes Nacional de Prevención del Bullying. Tenemos varias actividades/lecciones planificadas durante octubre para generar conciencia sobre este problema y trabajar para prevenir todo tipo de bullying. NOCHE DE ESPÍRITU DE LA PTA EN CHIPOTLE: Ten en cuenta que nuestra PTA organizará una Noche de Espíritu el martes 8 de octubre en Chipotle en Retail Drive, de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. ¡Gracias por tu apoyo a nuestra escuela!

 

FESTIVAL DE OTOÑO: Recuerde que celebraremos nuestro Festival de Otoño el viernes 18 de octubre, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. Esta es una gran oportunidad para traer a toda la familia a una fantástica velada llena de emocionantes actividades de baúles de autos, donde sus hijos pueden recolectar dulces de los baúles de los autos decorados de manera creativa. También habrá juegos con temas de otoño y manualidades de temporada para que los niños disfruten. ¡No olviden ponerse sus disfraces! Únase a nosotros para una noche de risas, comunidad y todo el espíritu festivo del otoño.

 

NECESITAMOS AGREGAR CLASES ADICIONALES AL KINDERGARTEN Y SEGUNDO GRADO: Tenga en cuenta que la semana pasada hemos pasado el día 20 de las Escuelas Tradicionales cuando finalizamos nuestras asignaciones (posiciones) del Estado y del Condado de Wake. Debido a que tenemos tamaños de clase tanto en Kindergarten como en Segundo Grado que ahora superan los requisitos de tamaño de clase obligatorios del Estado, contrataremos a un nuevo Maestro de Kindergarten, Asistente de Instrucción de Kindergarten y Maestro de Segundo Grado. Esto nos permitirá cumplir con los mandatos de Tamaño de Clase del Estado que estamos obligados a cumplir y nos permitirá reducir el Tamaño de Nuestras Clases para ambos Niveles de Grado. Estos son movimientos positivos para apoyar mejor el aprendizaje y la participación de los estudiantes. Con base en nuestra situación actual, crearemos una nueva Clase de Kindergarten de Track 3 y una nueva Clase de Segundo Grado de Track 1. Para que esto suceda, voy a tener que trasladar a algunos estudiantes de Kindergarten de Track 1 y Track 4 a la nueva Clase que estamos creando en Track 3, y a algunos estudiantes de nuestra Clase de Kindergarten actual de Track 3 a la nueva Clase que estamos creando en Track 3. Si usted es una Familia de Kindergarten o una Familia de Segundo Grado que desea cambiar de Track a la nueva Clase de Kindergarten de Track 3 o a la nueva Clase de Segundo Grado de Track 1, le pediría que me envíe un correo electrónico (smares@wcpss.net) y me haga saber que está dispuesto a cambiar de Track. Espero que tengamos suficientes familias que estén interesadas en cambiar de Track, y no tendremos que informar a las familias que su Track está cambiando para ayudar a llenar nuestra nueva Clase. BOLETÍN DE CALIFICACIONES ESCOLAR: WCPSS ha publicado los boletines de calificaciones escolares para cada escuela. Estoy compartiendo con ustedes el boletín de calificaciones de la escuela primaria North Forest Pines. Si bien aún tenemos áreas en las que continuar impulsando a nuestros estudiantes para que se destaquen, la calificación para nuestra escuela del Departamento de Instrucción Pública de Carolina del Norte fue una B, seguimos superando el promedio de logros del estado y estamos cerca de los promedios de logros del Sistema de Escuelas Públicas del Condado de Wake. Además, en lo que creo que es más importante, ¡nuestra escuela cumplió con los estándares de crecimiento el año pasado! ¡Lo que eso significa es que seguimos haciendo avanzar a los estudiantes para ayudarlos a alcanzar su máximo potencial! Quiero que sepan que creo que nuestra escuela es mucho más que números, y he visto tantas cosas esta semana que me siento orgullosa del trabajo que nuestro personal y nuestros estudiantes hacen todos los días, y del apoyo que brinda la PTA para hacer de North Forest Pines un lugar increíble para enseñar y aprender. ¡Que sepan que es un honor para nosotros servir a nuestros estudiantes todos los días!
