Hello Lincoln Heights Families.
We had a fabulous week that included walk/bike to school day. Shout-out to the families that participated and logged their hours. We had 110 families log 5,368 minutes (89.5 hours) altogether. WAY TO GO! Thanks to those that posted on Twitter as well. It was great to see our kids walking and riding outside. Thank you to our PE Teacher, Stephenie Logan, for keeping this opportunity alive for us during this time of virtual learning!
We ended our week with the placement of our spirit rock! This is something I have wanted since our school construction ended. A wonderful parent, Mrs. Burdick, took on the challenge and with the generosity of Wake Stone Corporation Knightdale Quarry, the spirit rock was placed in front of our school by our sign on Friday morning. Thank you so much!
All families should have received a cohort letter assigning their child to cohort A/1, B/2, C/3 or virtual academy. Due to a glitch in the programming, only the oldest sibling at the school received the letter but all students are on the same cohort. We have reviewed the information in our systems database and feel confident all siblings are aligned.
The school is an incredibly busy place right now! The custodians have been in constant motion preparing our building for the return of our students. Teachers are setting up their classrooms to allow for spacing as well as teaching all day. IAs are preparing materials for 2nd quarter distribution. Safe distanced floor spots are being placed to show students where to stand when moving about the building, and MORE! We’re excited for the safe return of our Plan B Transition students. To help us out, please practice how to correctly wear a face covering with your child. The homepage for WCPSS shares 7 Things Families Should Know About Face Coverings. The site includes videos and social stories. Please take time to check it out and help prepare your child for their return.
A few quick announcements:
2nd Quarter Materials Pick-up is this Friday from 9-12 in the front carpool loop. Come at any time between those hours to pick-up all necessary materials for quarter 2 instruction. ***Parents of students in cohort A/1 WILL NOT NEED TO COME because those students will get their materials when they return to school on Oct. 26.
