Ms. Kicklighter's Childcare Class visits Beginnings & Beyond Child Development Center

On Thursday, November 30, 2017 students in Ms. Kicklighter's Relationship and Childcare elective classes visited Beginning & Beyond Child Development Center in Raleigh. Moore Square students were able to sing with the children and play with them on the playground redesigned through a grant by NC State through their Natural Learning Initiative (NLI) and Preventing Obesity in Design (POD) of Wake County. Ms. Kicklighter's students also heard from Ms. Rosalind Blair, founder and president of the center, who explained liscensing standards, educational requirements, job security, and job satisfaction in the field of Early Childhood Education. In the Relationship and Childcare elective these students are currently finishing their American Red Cross Babysitter's training and covering the first aid skills needed for certification. They will go over "Check, Call, Care" procedures, how to help a choking infant and child, and how to bandage a wound. The field trip to Beginning & Beyond Child Development Center was an opportunity for students to interact with children and witness childcare in action.
