In preparation for the Veteran's Day holiday, seventh grade social studies teacher Ross Anderson invited 15 - 20 veterans from our community to visit Moore Square Magnet Middle School on Thursday, November 9, the last day of school before the holiday weekend. The veterans, many of whom volunteered the entire school day spoke to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes to share their military experiences. The purpose of the visits were not only to honor our veterans, but also to help middle school students learn the reason why we celebrate the holiday and help them understand and appreciate veterans' sacrifice defending our freedom. This was the tenth year Moore Square Magnet has offered this important learning experience. We are grateful for the veterans who came to share and to all veterans to whom we owe more gratitude than we can ever give.
