One of Raleigh's oldest parks, Moore Square, is set for a 12.5 million dollar renovation and Moore Square Magnet Middle School students and staff were there to assist at the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 10:00 am. The chilly rain moved the program portion of the ceremony to Market Hall in City Market on Wolfe Street in Raleigh where students greeted guests and dignitaries. Following the program students along with other invited guests took part under a tented area in Moore Square Park for the ceremonial turning of the dirt. Actual construction of the new park begins November 13, 2017 and when the new Moore Square park is reopened it will include a cafe, water feature, playground, new seating and walkways.
