  • Partnership Magnet Elementary School is celebrating 25 years and welcoming back all of our former Pioneers with a Homecoming Celebration. All former students and PME staff are invited to join us Thursday, May 9th from 5-7 PM. To stay up to date on event details, please sign up using our contact form.

 

  • Single Subject Acceleration Testing: The nomination window for SSA testing is February 20-March 5th. At this time, parents may nominate their child in either Math or Reading for testing, as long as they have NOT been successful through SSA in the past. 6th Grade Parents can nominate for SSA testing in Reading or Math, not both. 7th Grade Parents may nominate only for Reading, as the 7+ math pathway moves students into Math 1, a High School level course, next year.  SSA testing will take place in April. 

 

  • Summer Opportunity for Moore Square Students who are residents of Raleigh!

Commute Smart Ambassador Academy Program Dates: Monday, June 24 – Friday, June 28, 2024 • 10 AM – 3:30 PM • Program Locations: Drop off and pick up out of Raleigh Union Station with field trips to different sites. Applications due March 31st.  Students learn to have a positive impact on their community through gaining an understanding of the transportation system and benefits surrounding freedom of movement. Students will gain skills in leadership and civic engagement through an interactive program. The Commute Smart Ambassador Academy (CSAA) program is a unique opportunity for participants to serve their community through technology, civic engagement and leadership. Application

The lessons this week were…

6th Grade: Lesson 18: What Works Best for You?

  • Summary: In this week’s lesson, your child will practice choosing an emotion-management strategy that works best for them in a given setting. They’ll look at several different settings and pick a strategy they think will work for them.

  • Parent Engagement Prompt: Discuss different scenarios that might happen at home or school where your child might need to use an emotion-management strategy. Talk through the scenarios and ask your child to share their thinking and reasoning with you.

7th Grade: Lesson 18: Practicing Positive Self-Talk

  • Summary:  This week, your child will practice a strategy called positive self-talk to help them reframe challenging situations.

  • Parent Engagement Prompt: Ask your child to explain what “negativity bias” is. Share with each other one or more good things that happened today.

8th Grade: Lesson 18: Changing Strategies and Getting Help

  • Summary: In this week’s lesson, your child will analyze stressful situations and decide if they need to change their strategy or get outside help to manage their stress.

  • Parent Engagement Prompt: Tell your child about a time you needed help managing stress.

  • Human Trafficking: Eighth graders who are in 3rd Quarter Healthful Living will participate in a lesson on Human Trafficking on Thursday, February 22nd. NC Senate Bill 279 mandates that all students in grades 7-9 receive instruction concerning trafficking prevention and awareness and all WCPSS students in grades 7-9 will participate in a lesson.  If you wish for your student not to be in this presentation, please contact Mrs. Estes at 919-664-5737 ext. 26648 or email jestes2@wcpss.net.
