Valentine’s Day - Please be reminded that, just as on any day, students should not bring gifts, large stuffed animals, balloons or flowers to school as it is a distraction to our learning. Many of these items also cannot be carried on the bus. Please do not have deliveries made to students at school but plan to make arrangements outside of school hours for such gifts. You may wish to consider supporting PTSA’s Valentine’s fundraiser offering small Valentine’s gifts & shoutouts for purchase - https://mooresquare.memberhub.com/store?limit=21&live=true

We are excited to announce that Moore Square's annual Black History Assembly Program is scheduled for February 21, at 1:15, in the school's gymnasium. This year’s program theme is “Risk Takers”. Students and staff members will use their gifts and talents to highlight the many people who took risks, including their lives, for causes that have impacted African Americans throughout history. The 45-minute program will include a skit and musical selections from the students’ musical and art department. If you have more questions on how you can support, please reach out to Yasmine Monroe, program leader at ymonroe@wcpss.net

Eighth Grade Field Trip - In this week’s DC Field Trip family meeting, several families requested a link to the 8th Grade Webpage - here it is! And here is a link to rewatch Wednesday’s meeting if interested.
-
Sixth Grade Field Trip - The 6th Grade of Moore Square GT/AIG Basics Museums Magnet Middle School will be taking a journey to experience Ripley’s Aquarium and Medieval Times. At Ripley’s Aquarium, students will find themselves immersed in a watery world of sharks, rays, colorful tropical fish, and incredible hands-on learning experiences. Then, at Medieval Times, the students will be transformed and taken back to a period in history of grandeur and opulence where Knights, Kings, Queens, and Nobles knew the lay of the land.

Single Subject Acceleration Testing: The nomination window for SSA testing is February 20-24. At this time, parents may nominate their child in either Math or Reading for testing, as long as they have NOT been successful through SSA in the past. 6th Grade Parents can nominate for SSA testing in Reading or Math, not both. 7th Grade Parents may nominate only for Reading, as the 7+ math pathway moves students into Math 1, a High School level course, next year. SSA testing will take place in April.
