Weekly Family Update 3/10/23

  • There will be no after-school intramural sports from 3/27 to 3/31

  • Volunteers for 8th "Reality of Money" Needed

This is a fun experience of the "Game of Life" for our students and we can’t do it without your help! Please join us on Wednesday, May 24th from 8:15 to 11:30 am!

State Employees Credit Union will host Reality of Money for Moore Square 8th graders. This activity gives the students a "peek" into the future as they are "transformed" into young adults with jobs, debt, families, and other real-world responsibilities.  During the simulation, students move through multiple expense stations where volunteers (like you) assist them in making the necessary financial decisions like rent, entertainment, groceries, etc.  This event will be in the gym and volunteers will enter through the gym doors.  Parking will be on the street and in the numbered spaces in the lower lot near the gym. SIGN UP HERE

  • Middle School Registration (current 6th and 7th graders)

Current 6th and 7th Graders will register for their electives for the upcoming school year after break. Mrs. Estes and Mr. Wray will present to 6th grade students on Monday, March 27th and to 7th grade students on Tuesday, March 28th. The following week, we will be in 6th grade Social Studies classes on Monday, April 3rd, and 7th grade Science classes on Wednesday, April 5th to help students register for their electives in PowerSchool.

Please do not have students complete their registration before this time, even if you have a rising 6th grader or a child at another school who are working on their registration. We want to make sure students get the correct information from us.

  • Sports at Ligon

Parents, due to the lack of bus drivers, the county will no longer be providing transportation from Moore Square to Ligon for athletics.  While Ligon has been providing the transportation this week, their bus will no longer be available. So moving forward, if your student makes or is still trying out for one of the spring sports teams, it will be the parents' responsibility to get their child to Ligon for practice and games. Your student will not be allowed to walk to Ligon.  We will continue to work with the county to find a solution to this transportation issue.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Scheck (nscheck@wcpss.net)

  • Volleyball Intramural

Starting Thursday, 3/9/23, all volleyball participants must sign-up each week in order to participate. While we are ecstatic that intramurals have become so popular, there is unfortunately not enough space for everyone. Please visit Ms. Day in room 3309 by Thursday morning of each week to sign up.
