Weekly Update 9/24/20 Facebook Live with Dr. Jordan

Facebook Live Transcript from Dr. Jordan 9.24.20

Dr. Jordan

Tonight is Virtual Open House at 5:30 pm! You will follow your child’s daily schedule. Make sure you are logged in under your child’s WCPSS Google account, that’s what will allow you to access our school meet codes. There will be an 8-minute presentation for each period, then a 2-minute transition. Also tonight, our Media Coordinator will be available throughout the evening so that you can pop into her Google Meet at any time for questions at m2skinner. Then, at 6:30 pm tonight, Mrs. Pointdexter will have an optional AIG meeting and the code is m2AIG. There will not be a chance to have live questions and answers during this event, however, you can visit to enter your questions. What we will then do is publish the answers at our next Facebook Live, so that everyone gets the benefit.

Don’t forget, next week is Virtual Spirit Week from 9/28-10/2! There will be a different theme for each day. It is the last week before our fall track out, which is only one week this year.

Monday, September 28th, is a holiday for traditional calendar schools. Some of our students will be celebrating Yom Kippur, so we will be having an asynchronous learning day. This is something that the Board is moving towards, after hearing feedback from families. There will be an established asynchronous day, potentially, every week. What that means is that there is an opportunity to back away from the computer and pause from being tied to a screen all day long. It will be a time to get caught up on missed assignments and/or complete extension opportunities. This will be Monday, September 28th and students will not log-on to live instruction that day.

Thank you to PTSA for a wonderful meeting on 9/23/20! We were able to approve our budget for the year! Please take a minute and consider donating to their Annual Fund to continue supporting our school this year This is our mega-fundraiser and the campaign has been extended until October 2nd! We are making great progress toward our goal, but we’re only about 60% there so please help us by sharing with family and friends. Several businesses will even do a match of donations! So ask your employer if they would consider matching you. Also, you can do passive fundraising throughout the year by linking your grocery store card. PTSA has also done a tremendous job at supporting our annual Reflections contest, see below for the details:

“'s time to use your creativity! Reflections is an annual art competition for Moore Square students that is happening this fall! The theme this year is "I Matter Because..." and students can submit in literature, music, dance, and visual arts. The deadline is 5 pm on October 21 and you can email for more information.”

Finally tonight, my mom wanted me to pass along some exercises to you with all of the time we are spending in front of the computer, sitting:

We miss you very much but I am grateful to be part of this Moore Square community!
