General Announcements
Happy snow day! We hope you are all taking advantage of the surprise long weekend before the final push to spring break!
Spring pictures will be on February 26th. The 8th grade will take a class picture at 9:30 in the amphitheater. All 8th graders will be in the class picture. Individual pictures will take place in the media center at 11:00. The individual pictures are pre-pay only. Students will be sent to the media center by grade level for those pictures. Students must have either an order form or a note from home stating that pictures have been purchased online.
We do need two volunteers to help with picture day from 10:45-12:45. Please email Marla Mondora at mmondora@wcpss.net if you are able to help.
The 6th grade trip to Myrtle Beach will be rescheduled. Look for information coming home soon.
The Black History Celebration and Assembly will be rescheduled. A new date will be set soon.
Join the Theatre Arts Department next Friday and Saturday, February 28th & 29th at 6:30 pm in the Moore Square Gymnasium to see our spring play, subText! Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for students.
We would like to remind families that, if you are coming on campus, please park in the spaced designated as “Visitor”. If no visitor spaces are available, park in the middle of the upper pad. Do not use staff parking.

Magnet News
We are still collecting caps for a spring art project. Keep sending in those clean caps/lids!
Class and Club News
FCCLA will meet Wednesday 2/26 until 4:30.
Sewing club will meet Monday 3/2 until 4:15.
Be the Man meets next February 27th from 2:20-4:30. All middle school boys are welcome to join us for physical exercise, life skills, and a free healthy meal. Newcomers welcome!
Realms of Myth, Moore Square's only trading card mythology-based club, meets this quarter during nearly every Wednesday after school in Mr. Anderson's room 2217 from 2:30-4:15. Come check it out!
The Pennies for Pasta campaign will come to an end on February 28th. Next week students can win a huge jar of candy by making a guess how many candies are inside at lunch. Please donate the last of your change and coins to your first period class by the end of this month for your chance to win an all-you-can-eat Olive Garden provided buffet meal, and to help find a cure for cancer.
7th grade families: As you and your student prepare for 8th grade year, the administrative team wants to speak with you and your student about next year and the math opportunity students receive in 8th grade at our Let's Talk Moore about Math Night on March 31 at 5pm. Food will be provided
Please help the Moore Square Garden Club keep used markers, crayons, and glue stick containers out of the landfills through the Crayola Color Cycle, The Crayon Initiative. These programs collect any and all brands of these items. Families may send in these items with their students and drop them in the classroom collection boxes. The collection service is on-going throughout the school year. Please contact Mrs. Oke if you have questions about the program.
The 6th grade team would like to thank our families for their generosity. Because of your donations, 16 students were able to receive scholarships for the Myrtle Beach learning experience.
The 8th grade teacher will be holding a parent meeting for all families whose 8th grader is going on the Washington DC trip on February 27th at 5:30.
FBLA meetings will now take place every Wednesday in February as we practice for the competitive events at the State Conference. See Mrs. Somerville for questions.
All signed letters and permission slips for the 7th Grade Field Trip to Wilmington are due no later than Friday, February 28th. Payments for the 7th grade field trip are due no later than Friday, March 27th. Payments can be made online any day, or cash/check can be sent to school with your child on Thursdays only. Please email Ms. Cesari if you have any questions regarding the 7th grade field trip.
Students enrolled in Spanish 1 will take a field trip to The Carolina Theatre on April 23rd. The cost will be $24 and today is the last day for payment. If you have not yet paid, you can make payments online.

8th grade families who will attend Athens Drive Magnet High School: Athens is having its Curriculum Night and Rising Freshmen Orientation next Thursday, February 27th, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Athens Drive Magnet High School. We have received students from each of your schools last year and we want to be sure that families are aware of this event. Please find attached to this email a flyer you can use to assist you in informing your school families about this event. Thank you for your help in allowing us to reach all of our Rising Freshmen!
If your family has recently moved and have not yet provided the school with the proof of residency for your new home immediately. This information is vital to ensure next year’s assigned school is correct.
