Weekly Message for 2.7.2020

General Announcements

Thank you, everyone, for your flexibility on Thursday with our impromptu early release. The students did a wonderful job adjusting to the day changing on a moment’s notice! There is no scheduled make-up day for Friday. We will utilize “banked” instructional hours for the day. We will work with our student council in rescheduling our City vs County dance that was cancelled on Friday. More information will be communicated soon.

As a reminder, we will have school on Monday, February 17th, to replace the day missed in the fall from the hurricane.

Pennies for Pasta is here!  Keep your loose change ready, as our homerooms all throughout the month of February will be competing to donate the most to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fundraise for cancer research.

Congratulations to our Math Counts team and coaches Ms. Rice and Mr. Wiseman. Team members are:

Noah Pinkham

All donations should be appropriate for children birth-age 12. WAKE Up and Read cannot accept coloring books or activity books. Donations for the book drive will be accepted through February 15, 2020.

The Garden Club is collecting old markers of all types for the Crayola Color Cycle program.  Crayola recycles all pens sent which keeps these items out of the landfill.  The students are also collecting used glue stick containers.  Our families are welcome to send these items in and can place them in Color Cycle collection boxes in their classrooms.

Students enrolled in Spanish 1 will take a field trip to The Carolina Theatre on April 23rd. The cost will be $24. Students will receive more information from Ms. Martinez in class.

FBLA meetings will now take place every Wednesday in February as we practice for the competitive events at the State Conference. All permission slip forms to attend due. Please return completed forms as soon as possible as your child cannot attend without them. Also, please adhere to the payment deadlines.  You can find all the permission forms and other information on the FBLA website under the SLC webpage. See Mrs. Somerville for questions.
