Weekly Message for 11.15.19

General Announcements

Moore Square is excited to welcome business leaders from across the state as well as Governor Roy Cooper on Monday. We are lucky to serve as the host for the NCBCE Business Immersion Event. Not only will we host the event, members of the faculty will participate in a panel discussion. But even better, every student will have a guest speaker in their 5th period class talk about a variety of businesses and industries and highlight the importance of being collaborative problem solvers! Monday should be an exciting day!

Thank you to all the families who came out for the Family Engagement Night last week. We hope you found the session informative. Look for other opportunities later in the year.

Did you attend Math Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 7th? We would like your feedback. Please consider taking this brief anonymous survey if you have not done so already MATH CURRICULUM NIGHT 11/7 FEEDBACK.

Wake Relief is a time to donate as much food to the hungry families of Wake County. Our annual canned food drive will be coordinated from November 18th-22nd. Please get non-perishables in cans and packages ready to donate for your grade level later this month. The week before Thanksgiving, we'll try to donate as much to Wake Relief as we can as a school.

Parents, there is now an “Honor Library” available to our students located outside the Media Center. This collection of books is available for students to take a book for a day or for forever! Mrs. Skinner would appreciate gently read donations that may be cluttering up your bookshelves.

Do you recycle? Do you know the real value in recycling? Not only does it save energy and reduce waste and emissions, it can generate money for our school. We are partnering with “CRUSH IT! Recycling for Schools” to boost recycling of aluminum and to boost PTSA funds.

How does it work? Simply collect your empty and rinsed aluminum cans and bottles and rather than put them out on the street for recycling or putting them in the trash, bring them into school and drop them in the new CRUSH IT! Recycling bins on your way to 1st period. Don’t just collect from your home, ask your family and neighbors for their aluminum cans too. All collected cans will then be taken to a recycling center and converted to school funds for the PTSA. We will be collecting for new school items throughout the year. Our first challenge is underway. So, take on the challenge, it’s easy...collect all those aluminum cans and bottles and bring them in each week and together we can save energy, reduce waste and boost our PTSA fund.

Yearbooks are on sale now for $45. Order at jostens/ or call 1-877-767-5217.

8th grade parents now is the time to purchase ads in the yearbook. These are a great way to celebrate your child and your child's growth over the years.

Go to to purchase and design your advertisement. This is only available for 8th graders. Deadline for ad submissions is 2/13/20.

As off campus learning experiences ramp up, we want to remind families that when we plan and pay for trips (those with a fee), we base the cost on the number of students attending the trip. We are still required to cover the cost of a student who does not attend the trip. For this reason, we will not be able to refund the cost of field trips this school year. We appreciate your understanding.
