Weekly Message for 12.18.18

Happy Tuesday Mountain Lion families! It is hard to believe that the end of the 1st semester is upon us.

This has been a very busy time for Moore Square and our students and we would like to take a moment to recognize all the amazing work that has been done in the last couple weeks.

We are lucky enough to have not one, but two groups earn a spot in WCPSS’s Pieces of Gold Arts Showcases! Ms. Duncan and the Dance Ensemble and Ms. Craig and Studio Theatre earned spots in the spring performance.

Ms. Clayton and the Choral Ensemble performed in the rotunda of the Capital Building.

The Arts Department provided our families with three nights of wonderful concerts and a visual arts show. Ms. Duncan, Ms. Craig, Ms. Clayton, Mr. Kreacic, Mr. Miller and Mr. Byrd worked with students all semester long preparing for the concerts and the hard work of the students and teachers were on display at each show.

Mr. Miller, the guitar class, members of the orchestra and chorus classes provided lunch time music last week. We even had a teacher or two join the fun!

Ms. Sweeny and the Mock Trial teams competed and brought home a 2nd place finish. Additionally, Anthony Mante and Kate Benko each were awarded Most Effective Lawyer during their trials, and Ruth Rick won Most Effective Witness during her trial.

Students were treated to another exciting ROAR Assembly on Friday. Students participated in various challenges to determine which grade level holds the Spirit Stick for the 3rd quarter. The stick will be in good hands with the 7th grade!

Students received their 2nd quarter report cards today. Students not in school today can pick up their report cards from their 5th period teacher when we return in January.

As a reminder, Moore Square is on winter break starting Wednesday, December 19th. We will return to start the 3rd quarter on Thursday, January 3rd. Students will receive a copy of their new schedule that morning. As always, grades and schedules can be found on Homebase/Parent Portal.

On behalf of the entire Moore Square staff, I would like to wish you a warm, restful and rejuvenating winter break and a safe and happy New Year. May 2019 bring you peace, prosperity and joy.

Marla Mondora, Assistant Principal
