Happy weekend, Moore Square families. We are moving in to a very busy and exciting time of year. The next two weeks will bring the first semester to a close and we will have multiple winter concerts to showcase the talents of our students.

Family Restaurant Day this Sunday, 12/2 at Moe’s North Hills!!
While you’re shopping at Quail Ridge Book Store on the last day of our book fair (Don’t forget to mention you’re with Moore Square at check out), stop by Moe’s at North Hills, 4350 Lassiter at North Hills Ave., and when you dine for lunch or dinner, mention Moore Square and Moe’s will donate 20% of your purchase back to the Moore Square PTSA. Please remember to say you’re with Moore Square so the PTSA and the school can get credit! Bring the entire family anytime from 11am-9pm. See you at Moe’s!
Gear Hoodie Sale ends tonight!!
Did you miss the first spirit gear sale? Is your student asking for a hoodie to stay warm and show their Moore Square spirit? The spirit gear sale for hoodies and short sleeve tees will close tonight, 11/30! We are hoping to deliver to students in their 5th period class by 12/14. Media Center Requests:
Ms. Skinner opens the media center to all students during their lunch periods. She is running low on paper products and wipes to clean up after the students eat and she is seeking donations of paper napkins and towels as well as disinfecting wipes. Donations can be dropped of in the media center.
Yearbooks can still be purchased for $40 through February 22nd. After that they will be $45. . Buy yours now at Jostens.com
8th grade parents, you can still purchase a personal ad honoring your 8th grader and celebrating how far he/she has come. The deadline is December 15th. See the home page of our school website for the link to purchase and design your ad.
Spelling Bee News:
The classroom Spelling Bee will be December 3rd. All students are encouraged to study the word lists that were distributed last week.
Performing Arts News:
The Moore Square Arts Department would like to invite all students, parents, and lovers of art to our Winter Concert Series! The various dates, times, and information are below.
-Dance & Theatre Arts, Tuesday, December 4th, Moore Square Gymnasium at 6 pm
-Band & Orchestra, Thursday, December 6th, Moore Square Gymnasium at 6 pm
-Chorus, Orchestra, & Visual Arts, Thursday, December 13th, Moore Square Cafe at 6 pm

In order to help reinforce our ROAR Expectations, PBIS will select target behaviors to focus on for a week. For the week of December 3rd-7th, the focus will be on Owning Your Actions. So, make sure you to work on accountability and responsibility.
After School News:
Lioness Club will meet on Thursday, December 6th after school. All girls are welcome to attend. Please make sure to have your ride ready at 3:30.
Praise dancers are needed for the African-American History program in February. Students who are interested in dancing, please see Mrs. Estes for more information.
The second quarter is quickly coming to an end. Students are encouraged to check their grades and make arrangements to make up missing assignments or completing any test corrections or retest operations.
If you have questions about accessing or navigating your account, please contact the school. We will have the parent request forms available at the front desk. Additionally, our office staff will walk you through logging in if you need help.
Attention Carpool Parents:
This is a friendly reminder that the parking lot on the corner of Davie and Bloodworth Streets is owned by Smith Temple and is a pay lot during the week. While it is tempting to park in the lot to wait for dismissal, we ask that you do not. Community members who pay to park in the lot have reported that they are unable to access the lot as our families are using it as a pick-up location.
Attention 6th Grade:

Attention 7th Grade:
Students and parents are reminded to turn in the Wilmington Field Trip permission form in the next week. The team is wanting to be certain they reserve enough busses for the trip. Please see your 5th period teacher if you have any questions.
Attention 8th Grade:
Calling all proud 8th grade parents: 8th grade recognition ads are on sale now through December 15th. You can design and purchase a yearbook ad to celebrate your 8th grader by going online at Jostens.com. See the school website for a direct link to the design your own ad page.
Enloe High School will have a representative here on Thursday, December 13th to talk to students about their program. If you are interested in attending, please sign-up with Mrs. Estes.
Eighth graders who are in 2nd Quarter Healthful Living, will participate in a lesson on Human Trafficking on Tuesday, December 4th. NC Senate Bill 279 mandates that all students in grades 7-9 receive instruction concerning trafficking prevention and awareness and all WCPSS students in grades 7-9 will participate in a lesson. The district will honor passive consent regarding opting students out of this lesson. Parents wishing to opt their student out of this lesson must do so in writing.
Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School has left us with some Recruitment Complimentary Tickets for their theater program. If you are interested in SRMHS for theater, this is a great opportunity to see what SRMHS Theater is about. The ticket can be redeemed at will call for one free student ticket to any of the 2018-2019 theater productions at SRMHS. See Mrs. Estes if you are interested and would like a ticket.
